Best American rock band of all time

This is obviously a subjective post. As post suggest “all time” so feel free to go back to to the 50’s and please consider that bands from this millennium may not hold up in a couple decades. Also genre blending bands welcome.

I don’t think there’s another band that simply cares as much about the art form of rock ‘n roll music as Pearl Jam, which is why they get my vote. They’ve never stopped believing in the power of music. Not only have they never stopped, but that belief has seemingly never even wavered. As for their live shows, I can’t imagine someone ever leaving one thinking “what a bummer - they really mailed it in tonight”.

As big and popular as they are, I still don’t think they get their due in the context of historical rock bands. They are #1 for me.
