Best American rock band of all time

This is obviously a subjective post. As post suggest “all time” so feel free to go back to to the 50’s and please consider that bands from this millennium may not hold up in a couple decades. Also genre blending bands welcome.

They glossed over the controversial stuff. Come to think of it, controversial stuff was the entire point of Devo.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience??? Def my top choice. Even over Iggy.

But I don’t want to omit thousands of other bands.

One that doesn’t fit this AT ALL, The Sex Pistols, had planned a reunion (minus you-know-who) in Dallas in a couple weeks. They canceled over a broken wrist—prob the Sex Pistol was trying to slit a wrist with a dull knife to prevent going back to Big D.
