Best American rock band of all time

This is obviously a subjective post. As post suggest “all time” so feel free to go back to to the 50’s and please consider that bands from this millennium may not hold up in a couple decades. Also genre blending bands welcome.

It's the Beach Boys. They're not my favorite band but they laid the foundation for American rock for decades.

I would call them the best live band ever. Their shows were true experiences!

Brian Wilson was an amazing songwriter and their recording techniques were way ahead of their time.

But what makes them special is how memorable their music is. You go to their live show, and EVERYONE knows the words to ALL their songs, and sings along with them!

The only thing I can compare a Beach Boys show to is "Rocky Horror Picture Show". It's a gathering where a large number of people get together and share an experience.

Not even close to the best live band ever. They were much more known as a studio band, layering those harmonies.
