Best American rock band of all time

This is obviously a subjective post. As post suggest “all time” so feel free to go back to to the 50’s and please consider that bands from this millennium may not hold up in a couple decades. Also genre blending bands welcome.

I’m convinced everyone loves CCR

I’d be the exception, though I do respect John Fogerty. I feel the same way about Creedence as I do about Bob Seger: they’re not bad, just not inspiring to me in any way.

I love CCR and hate Bob Seger. lol

Have you ever listened to the Bob Seger System (outside of Ramblin' Gamblin' Man)? If you like more live, garage vibes, that shit kills! Detroit Bob > Hollywood Bob (though I also like a lot of Hollywood Bob, Detroit Bob/Bob Seger System crushes it overall)

I listened to their whole first album at work today. I appreciated the rawness of the band, but I could really hear his Creedence influence (with a little early Stones mixed in), so I didn’t care for it any more than I do “Hollywood Bob.” I did think Gone was a nice song, though. Thanks for the recommendation!

You should judge them from their time.

I am from their time and I agree with Tangy_Fetus_1958. Neither band inspired me to do much, other than turn the sound down.

You’ve described my feelings exactly about both CCR and Bob Seger. And I am judging from their time, for what it’s worth.

I used to like a lot of Bob Seeger’s music - not enough to buy it, but I’d enjoy it - but his music has not aged well for me in the current millennium.

But they sound so American

Yes they do, and if the category had been “Most American-sounding rock band of all time,” they might be contenders…

Oh I see now

I'm from the south, know they're California poseurs who never saw Louisana until they started touring, and *still* love nearly everything they did. Ramble Tamble is a top 5, maybe 3, song of all time. Only Mardi Gras is mid (and still has a couple of their best songs)

I’m not a huge fan. Of course I like some of their songs but wouldn’t say I “love” CCR.

There is currently a fleet of helicopters flying towards you with doors open and mounted machine guns, blasting "Fortunate Son".

I do not.
