Tour Past vs Current Tour

I was listening to rewind and the new episode this week, and I thought it was interesting how in the rewind they talk about the tour at the time, and it seems Georgia is all for it. Then in the latest episode they talk about the tour and Georgia says they're not going to tour again.

Has Georgia ever talked about touring, and why she isn't a fan of doing it?

Regardless, I have tickets for Brooklyn and very excited!

P.S. I was a bit surprised there are still tickets available.

I’m gonna go ahead and say maybe Georgia was joking (to make myself feel better) and that maybe that are just stressed and under pressure for this new tour. I’m sure they are still hard on themselves about “people not liking them or the show” and they are worried they aren’t going to do well. If you listen to old live shows, they talk down on themselves a lot about thinking no one would come. They say it jokingly, but I feel there may be some truth to how they might feel that is disguised through humor.

I’m going to a few shows and I am really hoping it is similar to old shows, but I would be happy with a new format as well. I just hope the banter, riffing, and laughter makes a comeback as well!! 🤞🏼

I agree with your assessment — I suspect it’s a combination of the workload of preparing for the tour, generalized insecurity around feeling liked or not liked by the audience, and the pressure they likely are putting on themselves to deliver something amazing after such a long hiatus in touring. I’m so excited to see them, and I have no doubt it will be a fun experience no matter what, so long as they stay true to themselves and authentically connect with the audience ❤️

That's very true, and it could have been a partial truth - the criticism can't be easy. Perhaps she just meant they aren't going to travel the world again and potential tours in the future will be more limited so take advantage while you can.

They’ve spoken before about the toll of touring. Constant moving around, preparation and pressure to prepare, eating trash all the time; they’ve hinted it takes a toll on their physical and mental health. But I think they’re dipping their toe back in and hopefully have learned to do touring in a more manageable way.

It's draining having to perform for people for hours at a time, smiling, talking to so many people, repeating yourself hundreds of times, it's emotionally and physically exhausting. You realize they just talk to each other 90% of the time and occasionally bring on guests, imagine a non-stop stream of people for hours

I remember when they first started touring, Georgia would talk about how traveling in general gave her lots of anxiety, as does leaving the cats. Her anxiety seemed to get better when Steven watched them, but I doubt he still does that. On top of that, she also has Cookie now. They’ve also talked about the toll touring takes on them.

At first, I thought maybe she mentioned it because ticket sales were low, and she was trying to give them a boost by saying, “Get them while we’re still touring,” but I just checked their live shows page, and it seems like most shows are sold out or have low availability noted.

On DYNAR, Karen has mentioned that she’s the one who loves touring because it scratches her itch to perform, which she used to get from stand-up, whereas Georgia could take it or leave it.

Who knows though? They said they were just trying it out again when they announced, but maybe Georgia is just over it.

I feel like they talked about touring again pre and post covid, so they feel a social pressure to “make it happen” one more time… now if Georgia says “we’re never doing this again” there’s little to no expectations for them to come back and it will be on their terms and IF they really want to.

They’re definitely testing the waters post-pandemic with this one and I think they’ll enjoy it!! But also - it’s been YEARS. I’m not the same person I was 5-7 years ago either.

I doubt she meant that. They were very clear that they were testing the waters with this tour. They’ve mentioned over the years that they missed doing it. I think they are just saying don’t expect they will be doing it the same way they did before. They are older and they run a network now.

They have researchers now which has to make things so much easier for them. After nine years, it’s understandable to be worried if your audience is still interested. I’m sure it’s hard reinventing yourself constantly to keep things fresh. All I hope is that they actually cover murders at the live shows.

This entire fucking year will just be one story half assed episodes. I’m excited to see them on tour but so fucking sick of the half assed bullshit episodes they keep putting out for bullshit reasons
