Aiding and abetting…. Lawyered up before the cops even knocked on the door…Didn’t seem they were held accountable for those actions. Obstruction maybe….

Just a reminder that we have this thing in the court system that a spouse is not required to testify against a spouse. This seems somewhat similar.

It cannot be proven that they shielded their son from the law knowing that he’d committed murder. That’s why they are free. I’m pretty sure their lives suck. Not only is their son dead, not only are they shunned by their community, but Petitos sued them twice and won millions. The second lawsuit was settled out of court.

Now the Petitos are suing Moab Police for 50 million because they think they acted improperly during the stop. Based on the video of the stop I’d say the police acted as correctly as they could under the circumstances. There was a citizen report of a man hit a woman in the face. When they got there both participants independently stated that it was Gabby who was started the physical part of the fight. Neither party was seriously hurt and it just looked like a childish altercation that had gotten out of control. The police separated them for the night. Supposing someone had been charged. It would have been Gabby, by her own testimony. It was a judgement call and I’d say for two young people who have no priors and both say they love each other, charging would have been stupid. The police cannot be expected to have crystal balls and see into the future or have x ray vision and see into the minds of the perps.

Suing everyone is not going to bring the two young people back. Enough is enough. No one is getting justice or closure.

I just meant they were all ready to keep any information they had to themselves before the cops even showed up. Wasn’t meaning they were accountable for getting a lawyer just accountable for helping cover up whatever they knew.
