Because they harbored and aided a fugitive who murdered his girlfriend.

I would get a good lawyer and support my kid in every way I could but I would encourage him to turn himself in. If he refused, I would turn him in myself. He killed someone else's child. It wasn't an accident. He strangled her. He would need to take responsibility for that.

He wasn't going to get away with it no matter how much his parents tried to shield him. If he turned himself in, he may have gotten some goodwill from that

💯 Being my kid does not mean I'll let you get away with murder ffs.

One of my best friends was murdered by a serial killer, and lemme tell you it changes EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIFE. Nobody in her family was ever the same.

There are ripples that reach outward to do severe emotional trauma in ways you can't even imagine. My other friend got panic attacks for five years after.

Murder isn't like any other death. It rips families apart, makes alcoholic/addicts, changes the way you see EVERYTHING, survivor guilt is real and terrible, and even when you think you're over it, BAM!! a wave of grief will just take you over, even many years later. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

basically what i said to my husband when we watched the doc yesterday - i get wanting to protect your child, i would want to do that too - but in an event like this, protecting your child is getting them a good attorney and encouraging them to turn themselves in

it seems the laundrie family thought their child was special, and while he was certainly special to them, he is not worth more than any other person, and gabby was special to her parents as well

brian was not worth more than gabby, despite what the laundrie family thinks

Just how the parents turned down talking to the police when they knew Gabby's parents were desperately trying to find their daughter. How can any parent withhold information when they know what not talking is going to do to her poor parents. Just what kind of person can do that? I would hope they would be charged with impeding the investigation at least.
