I wonder if they ever considered being on the other side - frantically searching for your child and the one person who could give you answers lawyered up and wouldn't say a word. They treated her family so callously. It's sad that they did that because they could at least have a relationship with him in jail.

I just wondered if they ever considered that they could then be aiding and abetting…all the post death events are so intriguing…like his whole family went camping, his mom managed to fake out all the people staking out the house to get him out, and then how he was almost nothing but bones (or at least the doc made it seem like that) after the flood and recovery

I would love to know what the attorney told them to do!

I just read through post mortem docs for him and he was definitely just bones and a small amount of cartilage when he was found. It sounded like his body was under water and that animals also helped speed up decomp. I'm sure the humidity played a role too.

Heat plays a major role along with the fact that he wasn’t buried or placed in any kind of containment that would slow it down. But animals didn’t speed up actual decomp - they likely ate as much the meat off his bones as possible, and he wasn’t a large guy to begin with, so they probably ate most soft tissue that was there. If you haven’t watched any Nat Geo scenes of animals eating, it’s not pretty, and they usually don’t leave much like they’re going to come back for it later. Then vultures probably took care of what was left or consumed him along with the land animals & rodents - they can pick up that scent from very far away, are also very quick eaters, and I’ve seen close to 10 vultures at one time on a large animal like deer on the side of the road.
