Recommendation Just started Peaky Blinders… why didn’t anyone shake me sooner?!
As in… wow. I feel robbed for not watching this sooner. Peaky Blinders is everything I want in a show sharp, intense, stylish, and full of bite. Every scene feels cinematic, the pacing is tight, and the characters? Complex AF.
It’s not just a gangster show it’s about trauma, ambition, and power plays wrapped in designer suits and razor hats. Cillian Murphy eats every scene. The soundtrack? Chef’s kiss.
If you’re into smart, gritty crime dramas like Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire, or Narcos this is your next obsession. 10/10. No notes.

Ive tried to watch it so many times but havent been in the right headspace for it. I cant wait to enjoy it one day when I get a bug up my ass for that genre and my ADHD can tolerate how slow it is. I dont think ive made it past episode three or four.

Im sorry you feel that way. The Peaky Fookin Blinders is a violently beautiful specimen that is top tier. Goodbye Michael.

Lol im sure its great but the style and content are not necessarily something i can force myself to watch if im not in the mood haha

Totally get that. It’s one of those shows that needs a bit of patience in the beginning, but once you’re in, you’re in. When that mood strikes and your brain cooperates, I swear it gets addicting real fast.

I think it is one of those shows that starts really strong, but the schemes and drama just escalated more and more to the point where it just felt ridiculous.
It just felt less grounded, gritty, and relatable as it went on.

Same. The show was “pushed”/marketed to me so many times by my streaming services & I never clicked on it. Then my sister told me last year that I had to watch it and man. Was I so upset I had waited for so long.

It really hits different once you finally dive in, no? Sometimes the best shows are the ones we almost skipped. 😆

Once I turned subs on, this show became amazing. It's a must watch. I'm going to start again because my wife never got into it. Maybe the finest show N ever made.

It was an amazing series in so many ways. The INTENSITY! Slightly cringey at times. The music. I have watched it twice and am ready for another go. And need I mention Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy. Fire

Such a great series every season finale is kick ass. Try Warrior next, it has 3 seasons and it’s just as good

Ok ok you twisted my arm! I love all the things you describe but have had no interest in this one…but it won’t go away. You sold me. I’ll try it!
I’m almost done with Animal Kingdom and will be in massive show withdrawal soon…looking for that next fix.

Glad I sold you on it! If you’re in the mood for something gritty and intense, Peaky Blinders will definitely scratch that itch. It’s got all the drama and style enjoy the ride! 🌼

How can you give it a 10 if you’ve only just started?
Great show. Set in a great time. They use the same trick every season though and it gets a bit repetitive by the end.

Fair point! I actually started this a while back and now I’m on Season 5 still solid in my book. I get what you mean though, they do reuse certain patterns every season, but for me the execution and characters still keep it engaging. The vibe, music, and tension are just unmatched. ☺️

I definitely enjoyed it a lot but the seasonal thing definitely stood out.
I still quote Arthur. Great character.

Right? Arthur had some of the best lines! Every time he yelled ‘BY ORDER OF THE PEAKY BLINDERS’ I felt that in my soul.

Peaky Blinders isn’t just a show it’s a vibe. Razor-sharp suits, sharper dialogue, and Thomas Shelby walking through chaos like it owes him money. Grit, drama, and pure badassery.
Especially when Tommy says "By order of the Peaky fookin’ Blinders."

Omg me tooooo! I’m already into season 4 - just started, and most of season 4 literally I had to get up and pace. This show stresses me like only a rare amazing show can do! I also read a thread on here where they ranked the seasons and a lot of people put season three at the end. I’m like how the frick can this get more intense and better than season two and three!?!?

I watched it last year and was amazed at how great it is. I resisted for the longest time because the story line did not sound interesting to me (English gangs? Ugh!) It’s so much more than that, and so well done with the cinematography, soundtrack and superb acting.

It’s a critically acclaimed series.
Well regarded by critics and audiences alike.
This is on you if you didn’t discover it sooner. Not sure why you’re question why others didn’t recommended it to you earlier. The recommendation should not have been required.

Started off as a very good series, but later went downhill when 'magic' (or something similar) became involved.....
Cillian Murphy is a great actor, and excellent in every film/series in which I've seen him appear.

u/followmarko Jul 21 '25
There's magic in it?
2
u/Mammoth_Support_2634 Jul 21 '25
No, the characters are superstitious. When people get sick they think it’s a curse.

u/murderedbyaname Jul 21 '25
The main character's mother is a Roma. They just went into all their traditions and superstitions. There was nothing supernatural in the way you're implying lol

Ok this is my sign I have to try again. I have tried it twice and each time I just can’t seem to get more than 10-15 mins in AND I freakin love Cillian Murphy. Trying again - thank you!
