Recommendation SANDMAN and DEPT Q are must watch shows

Pretty much what the headline reads. Sandman is truly a marvelous production. Tom Sturridge IS Morpheus. Voice, demeanor, everything. The cinematography is gorgeous.

And Dept Q—my gosh, I could watch it for just Karl and Akram’s bickering alone🤣🤣

Where is the Dept Q renewal FFS?!

I am sorely hoping Netflix doesn’t cancel. So get the word out there so that Dept Q gets more viewers and hopefully it’ll make them renew it

It probably should be renewed…. But it’s my ubderstanding it’s basically a remake of a book thats already been remade a couple times.

Kind of like Dragon Tattoo.

I think there’s still a few books left in the series it’s based on.

Ten novels and six films, with the remaining four scheduled.

I didn't like it. The story was boring.

It’s been nominated for some Emmys which I think will be its saving grace.

But hate that it’s taking so long to renew it.

Dept Q didn’t really draw me in as much as Queens Gambit did. I guess once ive watched a couple detective shows the similarities kind of jump out.

I honestly thought it was a Britbox/ITV thing that Netflix licensed instead of an original. Certainly got that Broadchurch, Unforgotten, Happy Valley, Responder sort of vibe.

It’s Karl and Akram’s characters that really caught me. I dont even like detective shows that much, but for those characters, I will definitely stay tuned.

Same. Gets a lot of praise here but I just can't get into it. Acting is weak and I just dgaf about any of the characters.

I couldn’t get into it for some reason. I’ll definitely have to try again though because I keep hearing good things. I’m a huge fan of detective shows usually.

DeptQ, a well deserved recognition for a talent like Matthew Goode.

We need more of these Tartan Noir.

There’s an underrated series, Netflix Original, Godless by the same show runners/writer, Scot Frank

Sandman was awesome, I cried during the finale. I am going to enjoy rewatching all eps back to back.

started watching dept q, didnt rly catch my attention, I only checked out because of so many good reviews

My issue with Dept Q was the overly done cranky and grumpy British police detective. We’ve seen that role on so many shows and movies already. Most recent example Slow Horses. Just a real arsehole being mean to everyone.

(In Sandman voice): Yes.

Dept Q might be the most underwhelming and ultimately disappointing show on Netflix this year.

Great characters, top notch episodes.

But ends in such a contrived, unrealistic and pedestrian why possible.

It’s a book series. It’s not the end

If you enjoy sandman so much, you should give American Gods a try, especially S1. It is a masterpiece that probably influences tv version of Sandman. S2-3 with different show runners so it went down hill. The story is perfect.

Unfortunately it’s incomplete and unlikely to get the final season.

I want to watch American Gods, but can’t find it streaming for free anywhere 😭😭

Unfortunately it’s not available for free on Prime Video for me. I’m in USA. It makes me pay for that show

Starz Channel/Starz-app or add-on on Amazon Prime.

Dept. Q storyline was meh but the characters were good.

Sandman episodes were hit or miss.

Netflix hasn't had a good English speaking show since Ozark.

Yeah i always find UK crime shows' plots and twists quaint. Like watching your little brother trying to do a big boy activity. The editing, musical score, and overall vibe all lend themselves to creating great tension and a sense of foreboding, but in the end it's usually just corny, convoluted village intrigue. And on top of that sometimes cheap-looking sets amplify the corniness

I sort of enjoyed Dept Q after I binged The Rookie. But my issue was that it focused on one case only, whereas the description said many cold cases. I was hoping for much more cases that would in time create character development and then lead to big case in the end.
I enjoyed all the characters (with the exception of the villains and victim). I just wished they grew more.

100%, I also wished they had gone with more variety. Doesn't have to be a monster-of-the-week thing like Law & Order, but 1 case over 1 season feels draggy and melodramatic.
