Rumor [Rapoport] The Patriots are shopping safety Kyle Dugger, sources say, their starter the last five seasons. While Dugger thrived in New England and eventually earned a 4-year, $58M contract extension, the new staff appears to view him differently. He’s played deep into preseason games.

Highlight [HIGHLIGHT] All-22 of the Rams sack on Sanders that lost 24 yards.

1.2k Upvotes

When watching the broadcast, I feel like we miss a lot. This is especially true on sacks where we have no idea what the receivers are doing off screen. Man oh man is this one worth a watch.

First off, I am no offensive savant, but what is exactly is this play call. Its 2nd and 12 and every receiver except the z is running a 10-12 yard out/in route to the lower sideline. the z is running a corner and the back is the check down. The Rams look to be running an inverted cover 4. Sanders first look appears to be the y (TE) but and then the x up top (not sure why he doesn't throw it here). after that, it looks like no one is on the same page. as sanders breaks the first sack attempt the back heads up field and his check down is gone. meanwhile the x turns back up field and looks to be open if Sanders plants and throws. Just pure chaos of bad, imo, all around. preseason man

again, just a shitty madden player so others can correct me but its hard not to chuckle here

They say that “All records are meant to be broken.” What are some records in the NFL that you think are untouchable?

Two that come to mind for me:

  1. Emmitt Smith’s All Time Rushing Record: Smith had 900+ rushing yards in 14/15 seasons and was productive as a back even into his mid 30’s. He missed only 7 games in a 15 year career. The closest active player is Derrick Henry who is 31 years old and 7,000 yards shy of Smith. Smith also played in a run first era when the game has now transitioned to pass first.

  2. Jerry Rice’s all time receiving record: Rice had freakish longevity even racking up a 1200+ yard season at age 40 (he had 2500+ receiving yards in his 40’s as well). Most receivers are lucky to last until their mid 30’s. Larry Legend finished #2 all time and even he was 5,000 yards short of Rice. For a receiver to touch his record they would need to replicate his freakish longevity and production.

What other records do you think will remain untouched? The only other one I think might not be broken is Bruce Smith’s 200 sacks.

By adding an extra pick via trade this morning, the Vikings now have added ammunition to go trade for a wide receiver. They have inquired on former Vikings WR Adam Thielen, but Carolina has been reluctant to deal the respected and productive veteran.

Highlight [HIGHLIGHT] All 5 punts from Austin McNamara in PW3. McNamara netted an average hangtime of 4.9s to go with a PFF single-game grade of 70.8. Additionally, he was PFF's highest graded punter of the 2025 Preseason. Thoughts below

It has been a couple years since I was this excited over a rookie.* I think the last was Camarda in 22. But man oh man, I cannot wait to watch more from Austin McNamara this season. The Jets are now must see TV.

First off, I love hangtime. Because of that, I am going to be biased towards McNamara. From watching him this preseason, that’s what his game is now. He averaged 4.77 seconds per boot, way up from his collegiate days where he never topped 4.25. granted, the sample size is much smaller in the NFL.

I love JK Scott. He may be my favorite punter to watch in the NFL. I see major flashes of Scott in McNamara. Short kickstep with a very similar form. A long 2nd step and heavy lean in the back to drive the ball to the clouds. Nearly the same style so far, utilizing the sky ball as his go-to. Similar to early career JK, the miss hits are there too. Case in point, the first punt is way off target. The high hang buys the gunners time to get downfield, but this was an August punt in NY. When the weather turns, this cannot happen.

But it is not winter right now and so I feel the need to brush it off. That is a problem for later. For now, holy shit Jets fans, rejoice, because this guy looks really god damn good. Legit franchise punter vibes. I need to get this guys jersey.
