Post-Botox Random thoughts post-botox
I had Botox 5 days ago with Lucy. I had put the procedure off for years because I was afraid of the procedure itself and of the side effects.
But after reading enough “I should have done this years ago” stories and entering my self-care era, I’m here to add, yes, I too should have done this years ago.
The procedure wasn’t that bad. When the needle entered that pesky muscle I knew it was in the right place. I feel like I almost get a cramp in that muscle sometimes and the needle in it felt good like acupuncture right in some target spot that was gonna cause some release. Idk I’ve never actually had acupuncture. The lump in my throat after lasted maybe 30 minutes.
I do have slow swallow. It’s uncomfortable. But honestly even if this would persist for the rest of my life it’s better than everything else I was experiencing. I went out to dinner today and I had dessert. I didn’t have any hiccups after. My pants felt pretty much the same as they did when I arrived. It took me an hour to eat my food because of slow swallow. No problem, I live in France.
Burping is so weird. It’s weird that you can feel the air move over your tongue. My microburps started on the very day I got the injection. Today I did a large cartoonish burp. You can sort of feel your throat flapping around. Or like there’s a small whale surfacing in your neck. The position of the burp is higher than I expected, almost in my nasal cavity sometimes.
I feel privileged to get to experience such a mundanity for the first time as an adult.
Is it possible that I’ve been clenching my upper esophageal sphincter for my whole life and now I’m finally able to relax?
Anyway, thank you for listening. Get the Botox already!
