Reddit is trash.
According to me. Just my opinion. Only fit for entertainment and no use whatsoever . Deleting it.

It’s trash no doubt about it. But I believe it’s better than Facebook, Instagram, X and Tik Tok which are mostly brain rot.

On the flip side that's also a bad part. People engage with it much more earnestly, and people are still argumentative and cruel

It’s addicting but at the same time it’s saved me loads of money and stress iver the years. I’ve learnt a lot of useful stuff on here.

I like it, because so far it's just human made discussions. No disgusting ai, or ads, or influensers. I mean, you MOSTLY see what you follow, unlike Facebook or instagram.

I haven't been active on here in forever, but just found this sub as a result of a new issue I've discovered with Reddit. twice today I've encountered two "helpful idiots" to put it nicely, both using the newly implemented private account feature, in discussions of an ongoing issue. with this site's involvement with AI training, part of me is wondering whether or not the implementation of private accounts is a front to allow bots to operate more discreetly on the site and push these exact "helpful idiot" opinions as a form of psyop.

It's good for useful info, DIY, resolving queries, technical info, niche hobbies (to a limited extent), etc.
As a "social platform", it's just as bad as Instagram and the like if not worse.

True, but I think You Tube is better..

Better than Instagram, reddit actually has useful answers to my questions and problems (like tech problems etc)
But yeah there’s some bad subs out there and the reddit as site has gotten worse overtime

At its best it's a glorified version of Yahoo Answers, at its worst it's a collective of people who think they're superior for the kind of ways they waste their on social media

Reddit began as a really good forum for all sorts of interests and expertise. The vibes were good and it was well-moderated.
Since then, the site has implemented Facebook-style recommendations and endless-scroll-style clickbait that puts garbage content in front of you. It’s less about proactively searching out information and more about being a vehicle to put sticky, reaction-seeking content in front of users to drive interaction.
By implementing the kids of features that make Facebook, Insta, Twitter such garbage holes, Reddit is becoming just like them.
I think Jaron Lanier was right about social media. The model leads to everything being a Bummer.

I don't like it, because of the unkindness and bullying. I'm leaving too..

Try to keep in mind the comment often reflect more about the person making the comment than they do about you

Every time I see someone say, "Reddit’s an exception," I can’t help but think they’re just like a smoker hooked on cigarettes, convincing themselves with whatever reasons make them feel okay. Yeah… that’s me.

This site is addicting, and I'm not-so-secretly hoping one day, it'll disappear from the interwebs forever. It accounts for about 97% of my time spent on device, which isn't high as it is.
