  • Latest Studio Driver: 580.97 WHQL - Studio Driver Release Notes
  • High Bandwidth Monitors and GPU Scaling Behavior - Link Here
    • High bandwidth monitors are those that support display modes requiring high pixel clock rates, which in turn demand more GPU resources. The threshold for what qualifies as "high bandwidth" varies by product. On Blackwell GPUs, any mode operating above 1620 MHz is considered high bandwidth. For instance, the 7680x4320@60Hz mode defined in the CTA-861-H specification runs at 2376 MHz, making it a high bandwidth mode for Blackwell.
    • These monitors typically support display scaling natively. However, in some single-monitor setups, users may still prefer GPU scaling. When multiple monitors are connected to a GPU and at least one of them is high bandwidth, that monitor will default to display scaling only. GPU scaling is disabled in this case due to bandwidth limitations. Notably, display scaling can be more efficient than GPU scaling in such scenarios, as it reduces the bandwidth load on display cables—especially at higher refresh rates.
    • When GPU scaling is not enabled for a monitor, only the modes supported by the monitor itself will appear in both the Windows and NVIDIA control panels. Additionally, the "Display scaling" option will be pre-selected in the "Adjust desktop size and position" section of the NVIDIA Control Panel.

Feedback & Discussion Forums

Having Issues with your driver and want to fully clean the driver? Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)

Before you start - Make sure you Submit Feedback for your Nvidia Driver Issue - Link Here

There is only one real way for any of these problems to get solved, and that’s if the Driver Team at Nvidia knows what those problems are. So in order for them to know what’s going on it would be good for any users who are having problems with the drivers to Submit Feedback to Nvidia. A guide to the information that is needed to submit feedback can be found here.

Additionally, if you see someone having the same issue you are having in this thread, reply and mention you are having the same issue. The more people that are affected by a particular bug, the higher the priority that bug will receive from NVIDIA!!

Common Troubleshooting Steps

  • Be sure you are on the latest build of Windows
  • Please visit the following link for DDU guide which contains full detailed information on how to do Fresh Driver Install.
  • If your driver still crashes after DDU reinstall, try going to Go to Nvidia Control Panel -> Managed 3D Settings -> Power Management Mode: Prefer Maximum Performance

Common Questions

  • Is it safe to upgrade to <insert driver version here>? Fact of the matter is that the result will differ person by person due to different configurations. The only way to know is to try it yourself. My rule of thumb is to wait a few days. If there’s no confirmed widespread issue, I would try the new driver.
  • Bear in mind that people who have no issues tend to not post on Reddit or forums. Unless there is significant coverage about specific driver issue, chances are they are fine. Try it yourself and you can always DDU and reinstall old driver if needed.
  • My color is washed out after upgrading/installing driver. Help! Try going to the Nvidia Control Panel -> Change Resolution -> Scroll all the way down -> Output Dynamic Range = FULL.
  • My game is stuttering when processing physics calculation Try going to the Nvidia Control Panel and to the Surround and PhysX settings and ensure the PhysX processor is set to your GPU

Remember, driver codes are extremely complex and there are billions of different possible configurations between hardware and software. Driver will never be perfect and there will always be issues for some people. Two people with the same hardware configuration might not have the same experience with the same driver versions. Again, I encourage folks who installed the driver to post their experience here good or bad.

Opinion 5090 FE is crazy good for the size

Post image
469 Upvotes

I bought PNY OC RGB from Microcenter then a week later Nvidia sends the email I got a 5090. I was skeptical based on all the posts I've seen about it being loud and running hot but I decided what the hell might as well get it.

The FE is much quieter. I had to keep the PNY fans capped at 50% because it was so ridiculously loud. Thermals are comparable around 68-72 for both and I was shocked at how much u can OC the FE and it keeps thermals almost identical. So I ended up with a quieter and faster card for cheaper which was totally unexpected.

And it's so tiny compared to the PNY!

Chiming in with an A3 build!

Went with a low profile, rgb-less, balls to wall build!

I felt like it was a prime opportunity to upgrade and wanted to try a MFF build!

Coming from a ATX build that had a 2080 Super and i-9 9900K that I had for over 7 years. (picture attached)

Safe to say, I made the right choice! The A3 is an amazing case to build in and love how much power you can fit in it!

Part list:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dvBdh7

-Ryzen 9800x3D

-Asrock B850m Riptide Wi-fi

-RTX 5090 Founders Edition (acquired at msrp at micro center grand opening in the Bay Area)

-Arctic Liquid Freezer Pro 360 AIO

-TEAMGROUP 32GB DDR5 CL30 RAM

-SCYTHE Wonder Tornado Fans x4

-Corsair 1000 watt SFX platinum PSU

Note: I am aware of the issue with Asrock motherboards and 9000 series CPU’s. I had purchased the board way before the issue was reported and board was out of the window of return window for any changes. Nonetheless, the board was updated to most recent BIOS and has been working smoothly. Will report any failures if they happen 😭

This build will keep me satiated for years to come!

Discussion FPS cap with NVIDIA smooth motion

So I’ve been playing around with smooth motion since it came out for the 40 series but I’m having problems with the fps cap in some games. I have a 260hz monitor since ultra low latency activates with smooth motion enabled it should cap at 242hz. In games like Overwatch 2 it then shows me 121 which is fine since that is half of 121 but then in VALORANT it shows me 130 fps which is the half of 260hz but since I’m running gsynch+vsynch setup I fear that cap is to high how have yall been setting up your caps so it doesn’t go over the limit im struggling lmao pls help!!

Question Is control panel useful ?

Upvotes

I have a 4070ti, already undervolted and i was curious if the settings from the control panel do make a difference, like turning some off or on performance mode. And if so, is that difference big enough to really make a noticable difference ?

Im currently rocking a 3060 12gb and a r9 5900x but im getting a 5070 ti vanguard and I was curious if it will be okay to play at 1080p for like 2-3 months because right now im with a 1080p and dont have the money for the 1440p. And I was curious if I wait for a bit and then buy the 1440p one will it be an issue?

Question Is Smooth Motion similar to Lossless Scaling?

I have an RTX 4070 and with the latest Nvidia app update they added Smooth Motion to 40 series GPUs.

I have tried it and honestly it makes a big difference. My question is, is Smooth Motion the same or similar as Lossless scaling? I have both and just wondering if they do the same thing which one should I use?

Build/Photos New PCs

I just bought 2 PCs. A 5090 for modded Steam games and a 5070 for retro and modded 4k lightgun games. I bought 2 because my siblings like to come visit and play retro and lightgun games and I don’t want to have to stop my play to entertain them. The 5090 is a BEAST!

Discussion 3080 to 5070ti

I'm considering this upgrade instead of caving in and just building a new PC from scratch.

Currently have an i7 9700k which I know is ancient but hoping it won't bottleneck anything.

Here is my current build: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/blueflame316/saved/#view=MMfCmG

I have a pretty good OLED TV so I want to game in at least 1440p at 60 fps. I feel like the 3080 is struggling and I'm having to compromise and heavily rely on DLSS to get near 60fps for newer games. I think it's mainly because of UE5's bad optimisations but so many games run on that engine now so I feel like I've got no choice but to upgrade

Question Windforce OC SFF owners out there, how good it has been? Any thermal gel issues?

So, Im looking forward for a RTX 5080 for my future PC build, the Windforce OC SFF is one of the cheapest available here where I live, I like the looks of it, and it has a nice anti sag bracket c:

So, anyone who owns this model, how has been your experience with it? Ive heard that there is some thermal gel issues with Gigabyte RTX 5000 cards, is this true? I dont plan to mount it vertically at all, so it will be 100% horizontal.

Thanks in advance!

Honestly thought it'd be bigger as well? But it's been running great so far, whatever I can throw at this card it just runs it without complaining at all. It's so good I've been looking for more games to try and actually stress it out lol.

Opinion PC Upgrade

Thumbnail

So I’ve had this prebuilt PC for a long time now, since 2021 (purchased from Microcenter). Specs include Intel Core i7 10700k, MSI Z490-A PRO motherboard, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, 2x16 GB NMUD416E86-3200D DDR4, and a 700W power supply. for a while I’ve been wanting to upgrade the GPU, and then I saw an Amazon listing of the PNY GeForce RTX 5090 for $2.5K. I said fuck it and bought it along with a new power supply, cuz I know that bitch gon need a new PSU to support it.

Now I’m thinking to myself, should I just build an entirely new PC? That was my original intent many years ago when I switched from console to PC.
