285k with a 5090 is certainly a decision.

I will say no more.

I mean if I can afford a 5090, I sure as shit will go for the 9800X3D.

It’s not

Agreed - literally outperformed every AMD chip in tasking - AMD edged in gaming but not performance - intel hate is literally forced 🤣

For Creators the 9 9950X3D trades blows with a 285K. In Adobe Software, Intel is slightly faster and with other software, AMD takes the cake. But in Gaming, the 9950X3D is like 40% Faster.

If we are gaming at 4k that 40% isn’t 40%

Except 285k when properly overclocked will properly trade blows with a 9800x3d. Not to mention in 3dmark intel wins.

285k is closer to 5800x3d.

You playing at 1080p with your 4090?

You do know that to max out a CPU for comparison you have to remove any GPU limitation by lowering the resolution right ?

Also I play at 4k but when enabling DLSS 4k performance upscaling it's basically as demanding as 1080p ultra. With DLSS balanced upscaling, compared to a 9800x3d, I'm losing up to 15% with my 4090. Still acceptable margin but with a 5090 I'd be noticeably CPU bound in this scenario.

7700x roughly performs like a 5800x3d for reference.

EDIT : Don't even reply if you are another downvote kiddo because too dumb to understand the basics. I'm blocking you, don't waste my time.

Internet

No, you misunderstand. Where is the card I can't see it.

The hate for 285k is crazy lmao

Reddit mostly is people copying eachothers bandwagons. You won't find anything here that's not hyperbole most of the time.

Word on the streets is the 285k ain't no good?

It’s fine. And if you are playing at 4k you won’t be CPU limited anyways. The issue is it isn’t a good value. Way to expensive for the performance

Well, you find the Limit is the percentiles and minfps.

Hardware Unboxed showed that issue as well. The 285k underperforms here compared to the 9800x3D in 4K.

Nice, happy I paid 200 for my KF to see most games if anything only 10-15 fps behind the best gaming cpu

All true, people are just wondering at the decision tree that led to this particular unusual combination of hardware.

It’s “bad” for gaming in that it has worse performance, higher price, and higher power consumption compared to several other options (both AMD as well as Intel’s previous gen). But the actual experience of gaming at 4K will be nearly indistinguishable from e.g. a 9800X3D.

It’s also one of the best CPUs for non-gaming workloads.

It’s fine but worse than the 9800x3D in gaming overall.

it's not the best but it's not "bad" either

How are thermals?

Good job. Now put that Inno3D on a Heatkiller block since that seems to be where Watercool stopped this go around.

Hey, I bought this card a few month ago and Im so happy with its performance.

I’ve read a few posts about its one of the cards with the lowest performance of the 5090s, But with slightly better cooling. I decided to go with it Anyways.

I ended up being able to overclock it to 3114mhz while only hitting Max 62c temps while playing Call Of Duty Warzone for Hours.

I’ve run the standard power adapter which was included with the card and had no problems. I see you are using a 12v power cable, What brand is it from? Or was it included with Your power supply, if so which psu?

Anyways build looks Nice!! And gz with the card.

Awesome!
BTW: what is this thing on pipes?

That line of Bequiet liquid cooler has the pump separated from the actual CPU block, they wanted to make it refillable in case of leaks so they put it on the tubes for easier access.
