I think the restaurant Carl's Jr was featured on the movie Idiocracy for good reason.
Also, r/Idiocracy.

Why do cooks do this shit? Serve something you would want to eat yourself.

Yeah just straight up lazy and rushed. We get what the company is willing to pay their employees. That's why there are different types in my opinion. You got the average cook, who does the bare minimum, usually very fast. They are your average fast-food or franchise cooks. Then you have the culinary artist, the person who has standards and truly cares about their craft. They can improvise, present, and gain satisfaction in meal approval. Most are sprinkled around the industry, always underpaid and usually underappreciated. Others are hobbiests, extra loyal to their community/restaurant, or just talented and cook a lot. Finally, there's the Chef who is essentially a culinary artist with a master's degree or PHD in cooking science via scholastics and/or just plain dedication and talent.

I would be disappointed being served that for $5 at a festival, let alone a restaurant.
