My partner & I are headed to the Okanagan to see his family next week. We were hoping to drive out to Golden to do the hike/ climb up to the Eagle's Eye restaurant at the Kicking Horse resort but the route is closed right now. Any other restaurants/cafes/bars/ experiences like that?

Hi, am wondering if anyone knows how to go about getting benefits for a loved one in Vernon BC.
This person underwent a difficult surgery on a kidney issue and hasn't completely recovered. Was on medical leave for a few months. They are no longer on medical leave and are struggling to find employment plus extremely fatigued and in pain. Add to that the pressure of 2 children to support and bills.
Unfortunately to cope they’ve been drinking more. Thankfully they have admitted they have a problem and are considering rehab.
Are there any programs in Vernon that could potentially fund the cost of rehab, rent, groceries, or has anyone had experience getting income assistance or extended past medical leave? Any information even small is appreciated
Thank you very much. Please be kind in the comments.

I will be visiting Osoyoos at the end of September and I'd like to do a wine tasting or two. I don't know much about wine other than I prefer whites and rosés, and I would like somewhere with a more casual atmosphere as I'm going solo. Something akin to getting a flight of beers where I can get a few tasters and go off and taste on my own, rather than being talked through each one by a wine expert. Any suggestions?

Hi we're moving from Van to Ok, looking for good/bad reviews on movers and what to look out for. Our quotes range from $2k to $15k... Secure moving quoted us the lowest at $199 per hour with a few added fees, Ferguson quoted $11k and Rainforest $15K

My wife and I (from Ontario) are excited to visit the Osoyoos area in the coming weeks. Tuesday Black Hills Estate - Ad Hoc Tasting ($30pp) Phantom Creek - Estate Tour and Tasting ($34pp) Dinner - Convivia
Wednesday Checkmate - Grandmaster Tasting ($85pp) Burrowing Owl - Tasting ($10pp) Dinner - Burrowing Owl (Sonora Room)
Thursday LaStella - Classic Flight Tasting ($10pp) Road 13 - Cave Experience ($65pp) Dinner - 15 Park Bistro

Hi. I have an idea for a retail/community space based in Kelowna, B.C. It would be a bookshop/flowershop/cafe with a large communal area to hangout and meet new people. Mostly geared toward woman ages 18-40 who want to meet new friends. The shop would sell stationery and other creative hobby supplies. I would also bring in other local businesses to run creative and wellness workshops. Anything from charm necklaces, floral arranging, yoga, writing workshops, and specialists who can speak about attachment styles and other topics. As a single woman approaching 30 who has done a lot of work figuring out who I am outside of a relationship, healing through creative expression and focussing on protecting my peace, is this something that would interest anyone?

Hello! I'm looking for recommendations for rental space to accomodate a wedding reception for $2000 or less (ceremony will be done elsewhere). Working on compiling a spreadsheet so we can compare and narrow down our choices. Google has come up with lots of results, but looking for more personal recommendations or hidden gems.
Musts:
- Approx. 75 people
- Access to a kitchen (event will be self-catered)
- Able to serve liquor (with licence and insurance, of course)
Open to locations anywhere around Kelowna/West Kelowna, Summerland/Peachland, Penticton, Vernon or Kamloops.
Bonus points if you have any information about pricing or what they include (tables/chairs, dishes/cutlery, cleaning etc)
Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,
I'm a Master's student at the University of Alberta and I'm currently conducting my thesis research on Public Responses to Prescribed Fire and Smoke.
My project aims to better understand the perspectives of residents in West Kelowna. To do this, I've created a short, anonymous survey, and I would be incredibly grateful for your input.
If you are a current resident of West Kelowna and have about 10- 15 minutes to spare, your participation would be a huge help to my research.
Survey Link: https://ualbertauw.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1FZZN0MIPNEJpOK
Thank you so much for your time and for considering helping a student out! I'll be happy to answer any questions in the comments below.
Best regards,
Sandani

I'm looking for advice from people who live in a Strata in either the Kelowna or Penticton general area. My wife and I are looking at potentially relocating to the area from the Howe Sound area but would like to know if there are any good Strata Management companies to make note of (and any to avoid). We're in a great community at the moment and have reasonable Strata Fees but would like to get an idea of what differences we could expect in terms of annual maintenance items, wildfire insurance, crime rates, short-term rentals, increase in tourism during the summer etc. I've only spoken to one person previously who said to expect a party town every night during the summer which does bring some increase in small crimes along with a lot of Air BnBs causing noise disturbances regularly. It is not a deciding factor but we have a 3-month old and any risks of buying a place in a poorly managed strata with alot of short-term rentals partying all night would put a lot more strain on already sleep deprived newby parents.
Any advice or personal experiences would greatly be appreciated as we love the area and people but need to make the right decision for our daughter.

I have a go bag, but I'm having trouble finding a balance between emergency items and a glorified camping supply bag. Do I need a tarp? Probably not but what if we need a tarp? IDK. I've been thinking about these fires, but since I don't have a car I'd probably be hooped anyway, but still...what are your non-negotiables for an Okanagan bug bag?
I've been looking on Google for lists too but I'm just curious if there are any location specific things you guys focus on.

Hi everyone, I’m planning to move from Abbotsford to Kelowna soon and want to live full-time in my RV. I’m looking for recommendations on good RV parks in Kelowna that offer one-year leases or long-term stays. Ideally, something with full hookups and reasonable rates. Any suggestions or experiences would be really helpful! Thanks a lot.
