Curious to know about your take(s) regarding his supposed 'proficiency' in being a cop?

Every Dexter fanatic I've come across, whether old or new to the fandom, seems to be convinced that Angel is amongst - if not the best detective Miami Metro has ever seen. And I agree he has had some great moments (like when he re-routed the search (searching a match for Rudy/Brian's prints against the psychiatric database (suspecting a possible link to the ITK).

He is an adequate cop (probably even slightly above-average) but I wouldn't say that he's the ultimate best - the paragon of policing in all of homicide, or anything of that sort.

But at the same time, I wouldn't claim that he's the absolute worst (or just a stupid cop).

Just a good enough detective with a few terrible moments.

And even turned a blind eye during situations where he had some emotional proximity to the other person (which was most oftenly, Dexter), adamantly loyal, so he would straight up cease any case against Dexter - without even checking it out first.

Also, in resurrection - what the heck was he even thinking?! A few of his choices were pretty dumb too, imo.
