It's a shame that millionaire governor Stit thought the current mansion would be beneath him to move into. Don't vote for millionaires.

Not good enough for the Stitt's. While his wife kept wrecking state vehicles.

I would love to know what they consider the problem to be that makes the governor's mansion "no longer fit for the standards of what modern families need," especially since a $2million dollar renovation was just done, and that was after the major renovation in 1995.

Because they are rich guys and that tiny shack wasn't up to par. They are used to Edmond mansions.

Just like the dome, a giant waste of fucking Oklahoman’s taxpayer money.

Adding the dome and changing the name of the 89ers are just some of the dumbest moves. Complete blunders trying to take something unique and making it look/sound like everything else.

It maked no sense to call the 89ers/redhawks the Comets. Flycatchers was right there.

Flycatchers would have been so much better than Redhawks (of which there are so many teams using that name). Prefer 89ers since it's unique to OK, but Flycatchers is great and at least makes sense (as well as a nice double meaning).

Edit: I'm an idiot and misread the article and now reread it a second time and yeah, I'm an idiot.

I already edited my above post, but after rereading I realized I misinterpreted the article a bit, and thought that it had said the funding was fully donated, but that was actually a what if from McBride and I had gotten confused. It's actually not clear where the funding is from so ignore my original comment.

This is a total lack of transparency and it raises questions over why they’re being opaque. I wonder if those who may have privately donated funds for the mansion, which benefits the governor and future governors, will be expecting anything in return for their investment?

This is the first I’m hearing about a new governor’s mansion. The lack of transparency is concerning, but I don’t understand why the author kept spelling residence in quotations.

Because he already has a home, a mansion, and a governors residence. Now there's going to be another one added, and we get to pay for it. It's a 'residence' as much as a summer yacht is a residence when you aren't in the winter yacht

King stitt in his golden palace!! ALL HAIL!! THE GREAT AND WONDERFUL KING STITT!! Make way filthy peasants our great lord is triumphantly claiming his new home!! oh king great king how may we whipe thine royal taint? Shall I get a dirty migrant to sacrifice for this illustrious occasion? Perhaps we could have your wife crash some more state owned vehicles? Into hippy protesters? Yes my liege!! At once!! Shall we ignore domestic terrorists because of their right wing political connections while targeting left wing activists instead? Splendid! Also Shall we ignore the wanton destruction of carefully built up state infrastructure and departments? Yes my liege we shall get right to destroying the legacy of the greatest generation that spent the post war boom building robust educational and social infrastructure and replace it with a haphazard mishmash of opposing right-wing interest groups. Brilliant my liege.
