Food What is fry sauce?

Please help me settle a “regional” debate. Fry sauce vs. goop.

I grew up here and have always known that fry sauce and goop are two different things. Fry sauce is ketchup and mayo - goop is a mayo/relish/mustardy combo. My boyfriend, who is from Southern California, believes that goop is “fry sauce”.

We’ve asked 2 servers at local restaurants who have agreed with him and provided little plastic cups of goop when asked for fry sauce.

What is “fry sauce” to you?

ETA: he works at a popular restaurant in Olympia… so if you get goop I’m sorry lol

Pets of Olympia Cat Missing from Littlerock Rd

Marco was last seen at home around July 15th, at the start of Lakefair. He's an unfixed male who had indoor and outdoor access as he pleased. Grey/light brown striped American Shorthair/Tabby with all white fur on his legs and chest. Very friendly and charming. I assume he was picked up by someone thinking he was a lost cat due to his friendliness. If anybody has any info or leads, it would bring me out of a severe depression. This cat is the reason I got off the street and gained employment so we could get a stable environment.

I couldn’t grab the poor doggo, but if someone in the area owns a black & white husky with blue eyes, saw it roaming on Old 99 by Great Wolf.

PSE frequent outages discount?

Hello, I was wondering if there was a way that my household could argue a discount with PSE due to frequent outages. My husband and I live in an area where our power goes out about once a month, maybe every other month. I believe our power went out twice within a few weeks of each other with the 90 degree weather. I’m curious if anyone has had experience with talking to them about frequent outages or if it’s even worth my time to try.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Joke/Satire Lacey Councilmember Nic Dunning Waits for Someone, Anyone, to Talk to Him About Crime

LACEY, WA — Sitting in his car outside a strip mall and taking yet another selfie with his left eyebrow slightly raised, Lacey City Councilmember Nic Dunning sighed. “WHY WON’T ANYONE TALK TO ME ABOUT CRIME,” he said, voice cracking with the exhaustion of being the county’s self-appointed Crime Conversationalist-in-Chief.

Dunning insists he’s the only elected official in Washington with the courage—and the forehead mobility—to take a brave stand against criminality. “I CAN RAISE ONE EYEBROW AT A TIME. THAT MEANS I’M THOUGHTFUL. IT MEANS I’M INSIGHTFUL. IT MEANS YOU SHOULD TALK TO ME ABOUT CRIME,” he explained, punctuating the statement with another photo upload captioned #OneBrowJustice.

The councilmember has repeatedly offered to “solve crime” by discussing it loudly in public forums, coffee shops, and the comments section of his own Facebook posts. “EVERY TIME I TALK ABOUT CRIME, CRIME GOES DOWN. IF PEOPLE WOULD JUST TALK TO ME ABOUT IT MORE, IT WOULD DISAPPEAR ENTIRELY. BUT NO ONE WILL,” Dunning lamented.

According to Dunning, solutions that address poverty, addiction, or housing insecurity are nothing more than a get-out-of-jail-free card for lawbreakers. “WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT ROOT CAUSES, YOU ARE BASICALLY HANDING PEOPLE PERMISSION SLIPS TO STOMP ON PREGNANT WOMEN. THE ONLY ROOT CAUSE WE NEED TO ADDRESS IS THAT PEOPLE AREN’T TALKING TO ME ABOUT CRIME,” he said.

Strangely, despite being a Lacey City Councilmember, Dunning has focused his attention almost entirely on crime in other cities. “I COULD BE TALKING ABOUT LACEY, BUT LACEY DOESN’T TREND. IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE, YOU NEED TO MAKE IT IN OLYMPIA. ALSO SEATTLE. MOSTLY SEATTLE,” he clarified.

Meanwhile, Olympia leaders have declined his repeated invitations to appear in what he describes as “non-partisan, honest, eyebrow-powered conversations.” In return, Dunning has promised to hold forums with himself if necessary. “EVEN IF NOBODY SHOWS UP, I WILL STILL BE THERE. TALKING ABOUT CRIME. ALONE. BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT A LEADER DOES.”

At press time, Dunning was seen uploading another selfie from his car, captioned: NO ONE CAME TO MY CRIME CONVERSATION AGAIN BUT AT LEAST MY EYEBROW STILL WORKS.

Any Returned Peace Corps Volunteers or group meet ups in Lacey/Olympia?

Hi everyone! My husband and I recently moved here and we are looking to meet people/make new friends. I am a returned Peace Corps Volunteer (North Macedonia, 2018 - 2020). My husband is from Turkey. I saw a post similar to this one from 3-4 years ago and was wondering if there are any groups that are still active. I see that SEAPAX is pretty active, but I was hoping that there might be something a little closer to home. Thanks in advance! :)

Pets of Olympia Labradoodle Needing New Home

Hi Community,

I am looking for a new home for our 2 y/o male labradoodle. He’s an absolute sweetheart and is amazing with kids, and he loves snuggles and playing outside.

We’ve had him since 10 weeks old and need to rehome due to my kiddo developing an allergy. Unfortunately, we can’t have him in the house and it’s not fair to keep him outside with winter approaching.

Please leave any questions in the thread. He’s been very healthy and comes from an ethical breeder with parents on site. Up to date on shots and has been neutered, consistently given flea prevention, etc. He loves to be groomed and appreciates treats!

High Risk OB in Oly Recs

Hi folks, last year I had the loss of my baby at 35 weeks and had a C-section. Now we're ready to start trying again. However, I'm not really receiving the care I expected to get with the OB that my insurance selected for me, so I'm curious what the community here has experience with.

Lots of you seem to recommend a midwife, but I don't believe I can do that with a high-risk pregnancy. Is there anyone who has had experience in this area and can offer any recommendations? I live closer to St. Pete's, but I'm more concerned about finding a good doctor who communicates well and listens.

Loud Whoosh Blackhawks heading South from JBLM?

At about 12:30PM today, i watched 5 Blackhawks go over my house. I live just East of Roy. I ran in the house and checked on Flightradar24 but none of them had their transponders on. Do you think that they were headed to Portland?

So my bestie and I were getting drinks at west side and lo and behold city council candidate Justin Stang was there! We talked about the shellfish industry and music mostly. I was surprised at how normal he seemed.

Curly haircut for kids

Do any fellow parents have a recommendation of where to take a 5 year old with a head full of curls? It would be more of a trim than a cut...

She's totally good with sitting still and all that, but I know some places won't cut kids hair. I also would love to NOT spend $100 if possible 🙃 thanks in advance!!

Pets of Olympia Last try - looking to re home or foster for a few months 2 dogs.

Repeating a request from a while ago - anyone able to take or know someone able to take 2 dogs - German shepherd and husky? Rehome is now an option. My kid’s friend has been trying every resource they could find even out of state, paid what little money they had for boarding, and have have reached the end. Animal services won’t take them and have said euthanasia is their only option in the next day or two.

Original post

Hello All, I am looking for an EMERGENCY temporary (3-4 month) placement for two dogs: Cobalt (german shepherd) and Bandit (husky). They have been together for the last 4 years and do not do well separated. Cobalt is a reactive german shepherd with high prey drive, we have been working with daily to desensitize him to smaller animals but he should not go to a home with other animals. Bandit has arthritis and prefers to be a couch potato at this point in his life but loves to play fight with Cobalt. They have been trained by Shawn, a professional dog trainer, and are wonderful boys they just each need a little extra help in their own ways. Located in the Olympia/Lacey area, you can reach us at: (425)495-3179 (Void), (360) 359-2707 (Shawn), (360) 549-6036 (Alex/Leiff)
