Seeking Recommendations Shirt Question
I’ve been one-bagging for decades and for the last 15 years or so I’ve been using Columbia fishing shirts (super lightweight, always dry the next day after a sink wash). But lately (in Europe for 2 months right now) I’m getting tired of looking like I should be fishing. I’ve tried other, similar shirts (Poncho, etc), but keep coming back to Columbia. Is there a dressier shirt out there made of a similar fabric? Rohan looks good but isn’t available in the USA where I live. TIA!

I rocked a Bluffworks Meridian shirt for three weeks in Italy during one of the hottest damn summers, ever, and it was amazing. I'm a big sink/shower launderer, and it always cleaned up well and didn't have any "leftover" funk like some shirts collect after a week or two of hand washing. Proof 72 Hour Polo also held up well. Funny enough, a REALLY old Kühl shirt that's a cotton/poly blend still looks and cleans up amazing after close to 20 years of use. No joke. I try to stay away from cotton when I travel, but that shirt just works. Funny enough, I also have a Fox Racing grey plaid SS shirt that's 60/40 cotton/poly that's great for casual travel, too, but still looks more polished than a "technical" shirt.

I wear Eddie Bauer and Columbia. Eddie Bauer has some less "Campy" shirts.

Thanks! Sometimes in Paris or Madrid I feel like a park ranger… I will check out Eddie Bauer.

Patagonia has a lot of similar shirts, button up and thin/lightweight. Some have a bit cleaner look than Columbia's maybe.

Marsh wear could be an option. I have a couple of them, and I really like them.

Check out Roark, very cool surf / lifestyle brand that uses premium Quik dry materials. They recently started going after the ultra running market so they have stylish shorts that have amazing material

I have a couple Roundtree & Yorke button-ups. Poly-cotton blend and wrinkle-resistant. Got them at the Dillard's clearance center for $20 each.

Calloway or similar brand dry-fit polos for golf pack down tiny and you won't look like you have been fishing. Variety of patterns from ridiculous (tiny parrots) to nicer geometrics.
Edited: you can often find these at Sams or Marshalls at a significant discount.

My partner just wears 100% cotton shirts in a lightweight fabric. They dry overnight after a sink wash if you hang them on a clothes hanger. He also finds them great for hiking worn open over an activewear t shirt.

Railriders has a synthetic that’s similar to fishing shirts but with a cleaner look. Another thing I’ve started doing (unless it’s blazing hot) is wearing a feather light undershirt under the outer shirt. That usually allows me to wear the outer shirt twice before it needs to be washed. I wash the undershirts after wearing and they dry out fast. Even if the outer shirts take longer (2 days) to dry, with careful rotation I can get a lot of wear out of a small number of shirts. Easier if you’re not relocating every day.

You could probably find some in Europe, since you’re there right now. It’s not like you’re going to return it.
