Why wouldn’t they? Store isn’t going to send them back because of miss spelling? Everyone knows this is just a chinese company that doesn’t speak english.

I was thinking of it more in terms of how it goes from ideation to being physically available on a big retailer’s shelves. Someone (or something) designed that packaging, someone approved it, some saw it being printed, some distributor mass ordered, some big name retailers bought it.. it’s like having a billboard with the brand spelt wrong

It gets made by chinese companies that don’t speak english so cannot tell if the translation is correct. Most products like these don’t go through a massive approval when going from distributor to retailers, distributor says hey i got this thing costs x if you buy a million and you can sell each for y. Distributors only see one of a product when deciding to buy a whole butt load from manufacturer and it might not even include a box at that point.

Its spelled right on the front though?

Not really a concern: the process usually is done for speed, not accuracy. The moment a retailer buys these items, they’re done. The product just has to look passable to the retailer, not the customer. By the time customers complain, the deal has already been done and the original overseas manufacturer is long gone.
Checking for spelling errors eats into profits, and clearly, if the retailer has accepted this product, they don’t feel any need to care that the sides of the box is spelled right.
It is essentially a scam with the retailer as the victim.

It’s interesting because if you’re a small producer or you have one product, the amount of hoops and trial stores you have to go through to get into stores is unbelievable. I’m with the other commenter that this should have been caught by the retailer during the approval process.

Often it is caught, but too late in the process to do anything about it. Most items like this are sold by the manufacturer at such a low margin that going back and fixing mistakes like this eats any profit.

I’m not dyslexic, but imagine having that disorder in Japan where they can use kanji, or spell it out from any or a mix of 3 different versions of the alphabet

How the packaging made it past a proof check before even being printed is a better question

They at least have a wireless controller for the console switch. Easy if you have multiple consoles hooked up to the same tv
