Anyone's kids go to Avalon public school?
Ours will start soon and I have a couple questions.

My kids just finished there, but had 10 years between them. What would you like to know?

I was actually wondering about the before and after school program. If it is hard to get into and if there is a separate one for the school vs. the YMCA or if it is all in one.

It’s been a few years since my kids were in before/after care but from when they were in:
It’s run by the YMCA, but done in the school itself. The daycare/childcare/ECE world has high turnover, so I can’t speak to who works there now, but the staff were always great with my kids when they were there.
They feed them a snack, let them play games and with toys, they have gym time, and use the play structure in the yard. It is (or was at the time) a well run program with the benefit of having access to all of the facilities of the school.
Kinder aged kids use one of the kinder classrooms and yard/play structure. Older kids use a classroom elsewhere in the school and the main schoolyard.

Thanks a lot for the information! Hopefully, we will be able to get in for next year when our daughter starts.

Will you be using the before/after school care program? I am wondering if it is difficult to get a spot in.

I know someone who used to teach there. They said it's a great school.
