Gym Suggestions - moving away from Movati

Currently at Movati but not getting our moneys worth as we haven't been getting to classes or using the pool. Looking for more basic gym with machines and weights... and a better price than Movati. I'd love to hear about what you've like or disliked like at local gyms. I was with Fit4Less years ago and it was totally fine, may go back there but curious if there are other options that would be better. Thanks.

I do Planet Fitness on Innes. Clean and fairly new, plus with the black card membership, have access to all gyms and the tanning, red light machines, hydro massage and regular massage chairs.

Do you find it very busy there? Someone I know was saying super busy in the morning…

I go weekdays at 10am and it’s never been very busy. I guess it depends on what time you are there.

Affordable Option would be to get a membership for Ottawa recreation centre. Both Bob MacQuarrie and Ray Friel have weight rooms and machines. You also get 20% discount off annual membership if you have a library card.

I go to Ray Friel and for the money the weight room/cardio is great. The amount of classses aren’t great since Covid but if all you need is a weight room cardio and a pool you can’t do better in Orleans for the cost

Edit. I go early enough in the morning, that it’s practically empty as well at that time

What days or times do you find it busy?

i don’t go much in the morning so i’m not sure those times but 4-8:30pm is busiest and you’ll be waiting or squeezing in. the crowd clears out around 9:30pm. i like to go anywhere from 12-2:30 pm or 8:30-9pm during the week and weekends but avoiding mondays. with summer it’s been expectedly busier with highschool and college/uni students

Fit for less is excellent value. I go to the Superstore location. Restricted hours though due to store hours. Also closed on holidays. I’d recommend the one near the hwy.
