Just noticed a sign about it. Haven't been there in ages because of the old owner, but the patio was nice.

Slow down out there

Earlier today I witnessed a child in a state of shock because her mother was run over (literally, not figuratively) by a car near one of the Innes road malls.

After the police officer told me that he wouldn't need anything more from me (I told him exactly what I witnessed given that I was the nearest person to the accident, other than her children) and I gave him time to gather information from others, the woman did have the decency to thank me as I left the scene.

Please don't make me have to look into a child's eyes while she's screaming at the top of her lungs after seeing her mother go under a car, in order to reassure her that help is on the way like that again anytime soon.

As I write this I can hear vehicles gunning it repeatedly along Innes...

Anyone else notice there's been an increase in planes flying overhead? Lots more wide body traffic especially.

Hedge shaping

Does anyone in our Orleans community have recommendations on an experienced hedge trimmer? I've recently moved here and my backyard hedge is seriously overgrown and I am concerned about snow weight come winter - want to reduce the height and shape the hedge. Thanks for the advice!

Does anyone know someone who does hand knife sharpening?

Not a service where they put your knives in, but an actually person who sharpens knives?

Salon for children’s haircut

When my kids were younger I took them to the Cookie Cutters at Trim and Watters. It is closed now and I find it is hit or miss with salons that want to cut children’s hair.

Is there a salon/particular hairdresser in Orleans that is open to taking kids? I’m not looking for kids prices, I am looking for a rec so I have a place to start.

Thank you!

If you see these plates on the road please report to the police

My old keepsake motorcycle plate somehow got stolen. We just recieved a ticket in the mail for a speeding violation because the person who stole them out them on their motorcycle. I can't tell much about the motorcycle other than its black and one of those speed bike motorcycles. The plate is 6N7R7

The person was caught speeding by Walkley Rd Westbound near Harding Rd. We're in the process of reporting the plates stolen but if you see it on the road we'd really appreciate reporting it to the police.

Thank you so much

Merci d’avance !

Looking for wild camping (bivouac) spot between Orléans and Bourges – any local tips?

Hi everyone, We’re two Parisians hoping to do a one-night bivouac (wild camping) somewhere between Orléans and Bourges in late July. Ideally, we’d like to camp along one of the Loire’s tributaries—maybe the Cosson, the Beuvron, or the Sauldre.

We won’t have a car, so we’ll be relying on trains or BlaBlaCar to get to the area. We’re really hoping to find somewhere remote, quiet, and natural—not a formal camping site with grass plots and showers. Just a peaceful wild spot where bivouac is allowed or tolerated.

Does anyone with local knowledge have any recommendations, areas to aim for, or tips on access via public transport? Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

P.S. We’re also open to other spots within reach of Paris—not just the Loire tributaries—if you have something special to recommend.

Thanks in advance!

How to get medical support/family doctor in Orleans?

We recently moved down to Orleans from a place where my family doctor was the same from the date of my birth to now - more than 30 years later. Unfortunately, his office is 2 hours away. Similarly, my wife also does not have a family doctor at the moment.

We needed to go to the walk-in yesterday and arrived around 1pm to find out that it was at capacity already. It was Orleans Ideal Urgent Care Clinic on Place d'Orléans Drive. I called them a little later (after walk-in clinics in Ottawa did not work out either) to check if coming earlier the next day would be a better idea. The reception told me that there is only one walk-in clinic in Orleans and about 40 people line up every morning before 8am to guarantee a spot to see the doctor.

Is access to healthcare really this difficult in Orleans? Is getting a family doctor here going to be a near impossibility? I am kind of worried about being able to receive care/prescriptions as I have a history of chronic pain.

Just getting ideas for parking at Petrie this year. I know it is limited. Do OPS crack down on street parking in that area just for the fireworks?
