Oslo, where would you rather eat? I built something for you.

Hey,

I’ve mapped out Oslo’s dining scene in my app called Vota. The idea is simple: you see two places side by side, pick the one you prefer, and the rankings update instantly. The more people vote, the smarter the list becomes.

You could compare, for example, Maaemo against Lofoten Fiskerestaurant. Totally different experiences, but over time even very different places naturally find their level in the rankings.

No fake reviews. No influencers. No ads. No AI text. Instead, you get recommendations from real, local people. No Tripadvisor or Google fluff. Just simple and easy.

The app is free, requires no registration, and collects zero personal data. Here’s the iPhone version:

Android is on the way — I’m building everything openly on Discord:

P.S. I’m not from Oslo (I live in Gothenburg). I don’t collect data, I don’t sell anything, and there’s no AI-generated content in the app. The two places in this post, though, I picked with AI’s help. I just want to see how you locals would rank your own restaurant scene. I’ve posted in other cities too, just FYI 🙂

How do you pay for infrastructure if you dont collect and sell data or have any ads? There's usually no such thing as a free lunch

While I share your concern, I’d like to point out that people DO sometimes do things just because the want to - and not necessarilt because the want to make money 😅

yes, but making and maintaining an app does cost money. im having issues trusting this app.

I get that, but very few wants to give away their money for other peoples convenience.
