Discussion [Panthers] Analysis: Taking a look at the Panthers' initial 53-man roster
The first 53-man roster has been released (with obviously some more moves likely to come), what are your thoughts?

Question Starting TE
Everything else in the post looks ordered. Does this mean sanders is the starter? If so I’m so for it!

Team News Adam Thielen Trade Update
Update by Adam Schefter on Pat M show. Vikings want Adam Thielen, we want them to pay a little more than they want. We’re not budging, they’re not matching. Right now, it’s not likely to happen but you never know. Vague and unknown it sounds to me.

Discussion I haven't been excited about Panthers football in a long time
This year feels like a fresh start. The negative vibes seem to be gone. The Teppers are no longer in the spotlight. Bryce is looking to pick up where he left off late last seasons. Our Oline is legit, we have a good RB group, our WR group has extremely young talent with room to grow.
Our defense can only get better. Having our best defensive player back Brown should help. Horn is arguably a top 5 DB in the league talent wise. The defense is our big question mark, but like I said we can't get any worse than last year.
Canales is what has me excited the most. The guy can coach, he made Bryce look like a completely different QB after the benching. This guy knows what he's doing. I'm extremely high on him as a HC.
Panthers Nation how high is your excitement level this season?

Discussion ILB Options to Watch
Like a lot of you, I thought the initial 53 man roster left a lot to be desired in terms of inside linebacker depth. While a lot of the league is dealing with a lack of linebacker talent, there are a few players worth keeping an eye on among yesterday's cuts that could be fits for Carolina. I know some of the fanbase has been talking about Chad Muma from Jacksonville, and while he makes sense as a veteran with a lot of starting experience, I was personally unimpressed with his performance since he entered the league. So, here's other four other candidates to watch for the Panthers, not named Chad Muma:
- Mark Robinson: (originally flagged by Mike Kaye in the Charlotte Observer) an SEC prospect from Ole Miss and a fan favorite up in Pittsburgh. He has a reputation as a hard-hitter, is good in run support, and in consistent on special teams. Sounds like a profile this front office is looking for.
- Nick Niemann: former Iowa LB who developed into a solid contributor for the Chargers over his 4 years there. He originally signed a two year deal with the Texans before they cut him to make room at other positions on the roster. Our staff got a close look at him at the joint practice and might be willing to jump at the opportunity now that he's available.
- D'Marco Jackson: local kid from Spartanburg, SC, and App State alum. Known for being a special teams ace in New Orleans, and notable for returning a blocked punt for a TD against the Panthers in 2023. NOLA local media said he was an obvious candidate to return to the Saints after clearing waivers, so might be worth looking into a claim.
- Chazz Surratt: another local kid - from Denver, NC, and attended UNC - he's had an increasing snap count in each season since entering the league in 2022. While he's fallen short of his 3rd round draft pedigree, he was a special teams contributor for the Jets in 2024 and had 10 tackles in San Francisco's last pre-season game.
Also worth keeping an eye on among non-veterans is rookie Chris Paul, Jr. He was a favorite of mine in the pre-draft process for his ranginess and vision. He's a bit undersized, so I'm not sure if Dan Morgan would be interested, but he might be worth taking a developmental flier on as well.
Let me know any other prospects you're keeping an eye on as well!

Team News Underrated Roster Move
I’ve been watching this one all summer and hoping for this outcome. I know they may still bring in another kicker, but I think Ryan Fitzgerald is probably our guy for now. I really hope he delivers, dude’s been a star in college and the preseason.
