The first 53-man roster has been released (with obviously some more moves likely to come), what are your thoughts?

Highlights [Highlight] Cam Newton scores on 3rd and goal, then dabs in celebration to the ire of the Titan's defense. This event prompts a Nashville mom to write a highly publicized angry letter to the Panthers concerning his antics.

Discussion It has only been 2 seasons. But there are now ZERO WR's on the roster from Bryce's Rookie Year.

Hello Panthers fans! I‘m from Switzerland and got the chance to visit the Panthers in Munich last year. Before the game, Adam passed by to take some photos with us fans. On the one hand, i was sad because he couldn‘t play that day (injury), on the other hand I had the chance to take a photo with him because of that. It made an extraordinary day even more fantastic. He was one the few positive things we had in that cursed 22 season. Thank you Adam for everything you did for us. You are awesome, Sir!

Question Swap for who?

Post image
11 Upvotes

So about a month ago, I sprang for a Theilen jersey. I really didn’t mind owning a jersey for him knowing it was only going to be on the team for one year. But now with him getting traded right before the season even started, I didn’t even get the chance to sport it with him on the team. I got jersey assurance letting me swap it for another for free but really don’t know whose jersey to get. The lack of white jerseys in the shop disgusts me as I already have two black, three blue and only one white jersey. A blue Bryce jersey is the only current rostered player whose jersey I have. Along with a black Newton and TD blue CMC, Kuechly, and Bryce, and one white Olsen jersey. I’m looking to get players jerseys who stamped their presence for me during particular eras. Theilen really did that for me the past two years so I really don’t know whose jersey I should replace it with. What do y’all think?

#Panthers undrafted rookie CB Corey Thornton, out of Louisville, is making the 53-man roster, sources tell me. One team source said: “He was one of the standouts of camp — impressive every day and looking like a real gem.”

Everything else in the post looks ordered. Does this mean sanders is the starter? If so I’m so for it!

Discussion ILB Options to Watch

Like a lot of you, I thought the initial 53 man roster left a lot to be desired in terms of inside linebacker depth. While a lot of the league is dealing with a lack of linebacker talent, there are a few players worth keeping an eye on among yesterday's cuts that could be fits for Carolina. I know some of the fanbase has been talking about Chad Muma from Jacksonville, and while he makes sense as a veteran with a lot of starting experience, I was personally unimpressed with his performance since he entered the league. So, here's other four other candidates to watch for the Panthers, not named Chad Muma:

  1. Mark Robinson: (originally flagged by Mike Kaye in the Charlotte Observer) an SEC prospect from Ole Miss and a fan favorite up in Pittsburgh. He has a reputation as a hard-hitter, is good in run support, and in consistent on special teams. Sounds like a profile this front office is looking for.
  2. Nick Niemann: former Iowa LB who developed into a solid contributor for the Chargers over his 4 years there. He originally signed a two year deal with the Texans before they cut him to make room at other positions on the roster. Our staff got a close look at him at the joint practice and might be willing to jump at the opportunity now that he's available.
  3. D'Marco Jackson: local kid from Spartanburg, SC, and App State alum. Known for being a special teams ace in New Orleans, and notable for returning a blocked punt for a TD against the Panthers in 2023. NOLA local media said he was an obvious candidate to return to the Saints after clearing waivers, so might be worth looking into a claim.
  4. Chazz Surratt: another local kid - from Denver, NC, and attended UNC - he's had an increasing snap count in each season since entering the league in 2022. While he's fallen short of his 3rd round draft pedigree, he was a special teams contributor for the Jets in 2024 and had 10 tackles in San Francisco's last pre-season game.

Also worth keeping an eye on among non-veterans is rookie Chris Paul, Jr. He was a favorite of mine in the pre-draft process for his ranginess and vision. He's a bit undersized, so I'm not sure if Dan Morgan would be interested, but he might be worth taking a developmental flier on as well.

Let me know any other prospects you're keeping an eye on as well!

Team News Adam Thielen Trade Update

Update by Adam Schefter on Pat M show. Vikings want Adam Thielen, we want them to pay a little more than they want. We’re not budging, they’re not matching. Right now, it’s not likely to happen but you never know. Vague and unknown it sounds to me.

There is a need at inside LB. Would he help out the defense for a year or two? What do you think?
