Vent / Rant Why do dog owners need to be treated like toddlers?

This is something I’ve recently started paying attention to as I find myself in different towns and cities often for work. We live in polite society, there’s expectations regarding what behaviors are acceptable and what behaviors are unacceptable. We already know what’s appropriate and inappropriate, nobody has to actively remind us. UNTIL you get to the dog owners. It seems every other house has a sign up saying “keep your dog off my grass” or “clean up after your dog” or “curb and leash your dog”. It’s a constant bombardment of reminders in just about every town I go to. Does nobody think it’s weird that we have to scold dog owners as if they’re elementary schoolers into having basic human decency? There’s no signs up that say “hey don’t kill people” or “don’t assault people”. You shouldn’t need CONSTANT reminding to not allow your creature to terrorize the neighborhood, that should just be expected. It’s really embarrassing how we’ve just accepted this as the norm.

It’s a good observation- yeah it does say they are self centered and lazy and try to get away without the responsibility of cleaning up and owning an animal in society. Whether you say toddlers or selfish jerks - all the same. The maturity level is low and respect for others doesn’t exist in a majority of pet owners it seems.

we stopped enforcing leash laws, littering laws, because as a society we worship these things... almost no one is a bigger nutter than cops/AC officers.

Those people are not toddlers. Dogs owners are people with a serious mental illness and they should be in a mental institution.

Because dog owners are mostly emotionally stunted individuals. There was also a study that majority of them are narcissists- checks out, they are entitled to, aggressive, emotionally immature and hate boundaries, just like the dogs.
