Politics Happening Now: Downtown Phoenix Fox News Protest
This morning saw another strong protest in downtown Phoenix in front of the Fox 10 News station and Phoenix PD HQ. (7th Ave and Washington).
Protesters urged everyone to resist the lies and propaganda the Murdoch family pushes through Fox News and its affiliates.
Please remember to stay polite in this post, trolling or being rude to others on this site is not welcome. If you want to debate the effectiveness of protests or the topic of the protests, I highly recommend posting on /r/azpolitics sub.
PS: everyone knows Fox10 is not Fox News, but their parent company is the same.

For those who want to see a bunch of hilarious internal comms from Fox about this case that lead to them settling minutes before the trial started: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/23731963-dominion_3-21-23_hearing_slides-used-at-hearing_redacted
Consider this a ~$800 million slideshow.

Where are the signs for when Hamas slaughtered babies in cribs? FWIW Iâm not arguing that Israel is innocent, only that Palestinian supporters seem to conveniently forget that Hamas is just as violent and is in some ways a bigger threat to Palestinian peace than even Israel

Glad to see people protesting at places besides the capital!
Whether or not you agree if protests are 'useful', I would postulate that bringing attention to an organization or person that is part of the national issue is much more effective and targeted.
Completely unrelated, the Goldwater Institute is in Phoenix and on their own website says they're "spearheading the national campaign to dismantle DEI".

Itâs somehow worse than an echo chamber. They take all the crazy shit he says and âsane washâ it for him.

Thankfully, these trolls/bots only show up in the sub for posts like this so Redditâs tools auto remove their nonsense without anyone seeing it. Thoughts and tariffs!

Isn't fox 10 local news different from fox news?
21
u/Jeenowa May 10 '25
It became a Fox affiliate in 1994, then the company that owned the station was bought by Fox in 1996. Theyâre Fox through and through

Fox has affiliates throughout the country. We have a local Fox News affiliate here in Vegas and they are a very good news station. They do a lot of local news and support local causes. The San Francisco Bay Area has a Fox affiliate in KTVU where the 10 Oâclock News is actually one of the best news stations around. They arenât MAGA at all.

u/IAmCriswell May 10 '25
The Fox affiliate in Vegas is owned by Gray Media, the company that owns 3TV and CBS5 in Phoenix.
The Fox affiliate in Phoenix is owned and operated by Fox.

FOX 10 local news shares most of the same viewpoints as Fox News, and is the one FOX owned-and-operated station which is most upfront about it. Its news director has been there for nearly 30 years.

I love it. But. Protest organizers need to start having a SPECIFIC goal; a SPECIFIC ask or objective. This is what makes protests most effective, historically speaking
15
u/Logvin Tempe May 10 '25
Disagree. Resistance to fascist bigots is welcome in any way shape or form.
Go watch the Nixon documentary âTricky Dickâ. He repeatedly told me everyone publicly that protesters were wasting time and wouldnât change anything. Privately, in his recordings that he made in the White House, he railed against the protestors and they had a huge impact on his decisions.
Trump is a narcissist. He desires everyoneâs love and attention. He canât tolerate resistance. So we resist.

I didnt at any point say that protests are useless, nor does your reference refute what i did say
I said that historically they have had far more concentrated aims, and historically they are more effective when they do.

Actually agree. Can't tell how many times I have seen a protest and you have some people holding up, resist the lies signs, stop deportation signs, right next to "my body my choice" signs. There is no clear message, its just all over the place.

Haha. Should be a Network News protest. MSNBC ain't no better than Fox. They just cater to different sheep. All network news is trash. BBC the closest you gonna get to non-bias.

Now do CNN and MSNBC

All media is biased. Not all media lies so consistently. You can pretend all you want that there's an equivalency, and I'm sure you can even find a few obscure links or sporadic examples that enable you to validate that false belief

Don't engage with people who are not commenting in good faith. You are encouraging giving their hate a platform.

Isn't this subreddit about the Phoenix area? Can we have free discussion here or is it not allowed? I'm currently out of state so this is kind of how I stay in the loop of what's going on in the Valley. Are the people being censored only just being nasty and troll like? Or are people being censored or having a differing opinion? Also why is the protest happening in Phoenix isn't Fox News stationed in New York? There's a local Fox affiliate in Phoenix of course but they aren't fox news.

Isn't this subreddit about the Phoenix area?
Yes, which is why we named it /r/phoenix
Can we have free discussion here or is it not allowed?
As long as the topic is related to the Phoenix area and posts/comments are civil, yes free discussion is allowed. Full rules are on the sidebar for the sub, or here: https://www.reddit.com/r/phoenix/wiki/index#wiki_phoenix_sub_rules
I'm currently out of state so this is kind of how I stay in the loop of what's going on in the Valley.
I hope you are somewhere less hot :)
Are the people being censored only just being nasty and troll like?
Yes, we remove comments when people choose to be uncivil, including trolling. Additionally, when posts are labeled "Politics" we utilize Reddit's automod to automatically remove comments from people who have never posted in this subreddit before. Unsurprisingly, 90% of the removed comments in this post are people who have never visited the subreddit before. The vast majority of these comments also violate the civility rule, so this tool has been amazing to assist keeping things polite.
Or are people being censored or having a differing opinion?
A previous Mod wrote this years ago, and we still are in full agreement today:
Someone's political opinions don't disqualify them for inclusion here. How they project those opinions does. It's entirely possible to have a civil conversation about controversial topics without resorting to attacks or slights. When someone's post history shows a tendency to write deliberately inflammatory responses, whether sincere or just trolling, most mods will err on the side of caution and choose not to deal with the issue. Simply put, people get banned here for being dicks, not for having a different opinion.
I hope that helps!
Also why is the protest happening in Phoenix isn't Fox News stationed in New York? There's a local Fox affiliate in Phoenix of course but they aren't fox news.
Well the simple answer is... we are in Phoenix, not New York. Additionally, while yes it is a local Fox affiliate, its 100% owned by Fox News / Murdoch family. While from a IRS perspective sure I bet they are separate, but they are the same company.

He wasnât President yet so we didnât have to protest. The people you see here are not the ones who skipped voting. We were the ones paying attention. Too many people staying home got us into this mess, not the people resisting.
