Republicans Always Always raise the debt. They cut off taxes to rich and spend like no tomorrow.
319
u/Bombtek504 11d ago
It’s honestly diabolically genius. Blow money with no regard for future impact, accomplish what they want. By the time the bill becomes apparent it’s usually a Democratic POTUS. Then they blame them for the deficit and run on cutting it. Democrat spends the whole term fixing it and making progress but it’s not enough. Republican wins next election, rinse wash repeat.
249
u/Thefrayedends 11d ago
It's called cunning, it is a different kind of intelligence. It's not difficult to think of the concept of screwing people over, it just requires you not to care about the harm caused. For many, the harm caused is part of the payoff.
The right relies on visceral cunning, while the centrists rely on pragmatic intellectualism (often to the point of arrogance). The left relies on empathy and common cause.

Yeah it's crazy. When I was younger my parents used to talk about tax and spend (Democrats). Now that I'm older I realize that Republicans are borrow and Spend.
DOGE was a joke as expected. One person's waste is another person's entitlement. That's why I think it's hilarious that he's bragging about all of these tariff dollars. Congrats your taxes on Americans raised 2% of the federal expenditures. So much winning.

I've seen countless reels of DC at the moment and you'd think it was a former war-zone by the comments. Lots of "Nice to see the streets finally clean!" and "I feel so safe walking around now!" from people who haven't been and live nowhere near the district. Their little echo chamber spreads fast.

They're just these out of shape dudes pacing around tourist areas in the middle of the day. That isn't where crime is, that isn't the time crime happens, and those aren't the people to stop it. A drunk dude threw a sandwich at one of them and ran away in loafers and it took multiple feds half a block to catch him. They aren't sending their best.
I live here. Crime is lower than it has been and what we need is our cops, who sit in the bike lane playing on their phones and posting here, to do anything, not a bunch of feds trained to deal with drugs and gun rings and human trafficking to stand around tourist stops and check traffic. We already have more police per capita than any American city, more than NYC which is the largest police force in the country.

Not to disagree with you or anything, but I think the real issue is that the average American has zero critical thinking skills. These people see themselves as rugged individualists, and as one might expect, all of their concerns rest entirely on what happens to them directly. They’re not on the lookout for societal changes that could indirectly affect them, like poverty, food shortages, healthcare rationing, or crumbling infrastructure.
That said, there will likely be a very rude awakening for some of these people in the near future when Dear Leader orders the confiscation of privately held arms. At that point, the state’s wrath will be turned inward and it will be too late for these “rugged” individuals to change their ways and properly organize a resistance effort.
47
u/MisterB78 11d ago
Almost everyone is susceptible to misinformation. Hear a lie enough times and you believe it’s true.

55
u/TuringC0mplete 11d ago
They’re also too short sighted to realize that all of this is going to impact them. All of the “it’ll never happen to me” keeps falling on more and more people. You saw it a lot with the flooding in Texas. There was one woman in particular who posted videos shitting on people in California during the wildfires and praising them not getting assistance just to then beg for it when her house was destroyed in the floods. They just don’t get it. Until something happens to them, they won’t realize.

For me it's all the guys saying in the event of true conflict they'd go "off the grid and wait for it to blow over"
Which sounds great until you're suddenly in the same spot as 50 guys in your area who had the same idea and now competing for resources. It only takes one heated conflict to turn violent and now being on your own in the wilderness doesn't sound that great.
They are the only people who exist in their bubbles.

You're right. I think this is a fascinating topic. The rugged individualist mindset is a foundational element of the division that is behind a lot of the problems in US.
A quick example: consider the idea of "living off the grid." It's well-known concept. But does it actually exist in the US? No, it's a fake concept here. You can't live off the grid anywhere in the US. Sure, you can live far away from others, but the only reason you can do that without, for example, behind invaded by warlords for your resources is because of our strong social systems.
We've convinced people that they can be rugged individualists, but they are ultimately dependent on the government. It's dangerous, because they end up voting against their own interests without realizing it.

Trump basically just loves power. He loves the thrill of giving an order and thousands of people getting into motion because of it. Guys with guns standing around, military vehicles rolling down the streets. He can sit in bed and watch it all unfold on TV because he said to do it.
Thats really it.

On The National Mall? That's got to be the most "standing around" of any "standing around" job on the planet.

I guess that’s where all the criming is… /s. the National Mall falls under the National Parks Service, not DC Metro, but who needs facts when a convicted fascist conman is selling hate and and fear 25/8, amirite?!

💯 percent for show. The National Mall is already very secure.
My condolences to the National Guard stuck in Washington DC in August.
Hot, sweaty, and pointless...
All to promote a wannabe dictator...

u/Dreadmaker 11d ago
You shouldn’t call him a wannabe dictator.
He is a literal dictator who is successfully implementing fascism with exactly no boundaries. There is no democratic process to any of the things he’s been implementing. You have a dictator.

this is not for show, it's calculated normalization of presidential authority to order military actions against u.s. citizens on u.s. soil.

And from on scene reports online. They’re just standing around as DC is in a 30 year crime rate drop.
This was never about crime, it was about prepping to keep from being removed from office in 1-3 years.

As someone who served in the National Guard, I can tell you those folks won’t stand in the way when things go south. They care more about their own families than propping up some wannabe dictator.

I hope they would turn on the wannabe and dictator.

I had that same opinion about a lot of people who had the power to step up and stop things. It's yet to happen at any phase, so forgive me if I don't believe that this is going to be the line.

Nothing would turn me against a dude faster than having to stand around the Washington Mall all day in August. It's hot (and humid) as heeeeell

This is such a low point for the US. I hope everyone can see that and understands it. When a nation's citizens have to fear its military, its pretty much the worst situation.

All this because the electorate chose fear and hatred over qualified leadership. We got more warnings than most countries that this Trump2 Presidency would be exactly what it is turning out to be: an exercise in dictatorship.

I visited our nation’s capital during Trump’s first term as the wife and I were on a big history kick. We did all the museums and monuments we could. I was surprised to find how peaceful the area was in spite of the crowds.
I can’t imagine having that same peaceful atmosphere with military personnel standing guard like the city was under an occupying force.

They are trying to normalize federal troops acting as police in our cities, and it is absolutely disgusting.
“Don’t tread on me”? Please. If Obama or Biden had deployed the National Guard and taken over the police in Houston or Tallahassee or whatever the Republicans would have lost their damned minds—and rightly so.

National Guard troops began deploying in Washington, D.C., yesterday, with some joining city police last night. The full contingent of 800 troops is expected to be operational by the end of the week.
Mayor Muriel Bowser, along with the district’s police chief, met yesterday with Attorney General Pam Bondi and said she will make the most of federal help that she says she’s powerless to refuse.

You KNOW this isn't for crime or safety in ANY way whatsoever by this picture.
The area around the monuments is absolutely, perfectly safe, 24 hours a day. I have been there plenty of times at all hours, and it's just fine.
DC does have some tougher areas like any city... but this is NOT one of them. There is zero reason to have the national guard right there.

Great job Americans you fell for a Con man, and now you are goosestepping towards authoritarianism

Can you believe these Dems with their governmental overreach?
Republicans need to retake the presidency, house and senate to end this Big Government Wasteful Spending. All the Dems do is tax and spend, tax and spend on - all for these big government unnecessary deployments.
