Man I wish I could watch this movie for the first time again. So great.

u/EatYourCheckers 1d ago
I think ive watched it twice but I was really drunk both times so I remember none of it! Only the "activities" line because my friend and his sister were quoting it all day when they were helping their parents clean out the basement.

Looks like we've hit some turbulence. The ball goes way off target but he gets the pinfall anyway.

You notices that's only the top half of the circle?
Airlines actually have started making more money on cargo on passenger flights than for the passengers. Cargo movement is much more stable income and you don't have to worry about getting hotel rooms for boxes if a flight gets cancelled due to weather. The box just says in the plane until it gets to the destination.

I think it would be a great idea to make a hotel that looked like that, without the airplane. The aesthetic is fantastic and futuristic.

u/Ruadhan2300 20h ago
Disneyworld used to have a Star Wars themed hotel i that vein.. they closed it down fairly recently.

u/TeutonJon78 17h ago
Yeah, because people found it less than fun and it was like $6k/night.
I don't think the idea was necessarily wrong, just not priced to be succesful.
•
u/ZopharPtay 2h ago
Yeah, I think it was the price, honestly. I know a lot of star wars fans who would have LOVED to go to an ion-character star wars resort... but not at that price.

I was thinking The Orville

u/EveroneWantsMyD 1d ago
Oh! The show that’s heavily inspired by Star Trek? That Orville? The one that looks like Star Trek? The Orville tv show that is a comedy version of Star Trek? That one? The Star Trek looking show called the Orville?

u/knox902 1d ago
Yes, the show that is far closer to how Star Trek should have been done rather than the mess we got.
4
u/TeutonJon78 17h ago
Imagine dragging The Orville about being a comedy version of Star Trek when Lower Decks exists.

The seat rails are missing from the floor. So either this is heavily photoshopped or fake.

u/Legerity 1d ago
The galleys and bathrooms are also missing. This was from the original PR pack for the dreamliner. It's very old.

This was a demo cabin that Boeing built during the 787 development. Airlines would come and lay out seating arrangements to get a feel for the cabin in real life.

I have been in the building where the interior of this plane was designed.

Could this be a version intended for a different use than for passengers?

The image comes from Boeing's 787 business jet page, so seat rails might not be a thing. You'd think there would still be galleys and bathrooms, but maybe they get custom-installed later? Or its just a Boeing PR render to show how much room there is to customize.

u/crazy_pilot742 1d ago
It was a cabin demo/mock-up for airlines during the 787 development, not a flying plane. Boeing would lay out seats and monuments (lavatories, bulkheads, etc) so the customers could see their seating plans in real life.

Apparently every plane is basically a custom job for the airline that purchases it. They pick out all the optional extras and configuration as part of the order, and often fit their own bits and pieces aftermarket too.
But no, this is apparently a demo plane for letting purchasers get a feel for how much space they have to work with, seat layouts. That sort of thing. No plane ever looks like this during the normal process of manufacture.

Gallies at least, are typically BFE. Buyer furnished equipment. Seats too. So if you've got a really shitty seat, blame the airline. Not Airbus or Boeing. Lavs, I can't 100% remember. Maybe. But almost certainly for a BBJ.

Knees on the front seat, so you can't feel your feet or feet to the gangway, so that everyone trips?
2
u/Achilles_59 1d ago
Sounds familiar, after an especially long flight, you’ll feel as if you been on the rack like medieval times. And no sleep on the red eyes.

Seems as though if they just did middle row, you could get more seats in while optimizing comfort. Sure no one would technically get a window seat, but everyone could be more comfortable. And it would arguably be safer offering two rows for exit and entry.

Overhead storage would have to be rethought, and headroom while walking forward and aft might be an issue.

Well I guess they can add a few lavatories and some showers and the rest just add beds..

I'd be the first to book this airline if they just filled it with huge pillows and bean bag chairs and let passengers chill wherever they want.

They should just keep it this way and install seat belts on the ground.

F THAT PLANE, that 9 seats per row configuration makes the worse tourist class ever. It is incredibly tight and the seats super uncomfortable.

Airlines all around the world (incl Ryan air) "I bet we could fit a whole lot of standing passengers in there"
