Poignant statue. I was born and lived in a seaside town where there were many fishermen’s families. They knew and understood the weather and the tides, fretting when bad storms came and the boats had not returned, or when the boats did return but with meagre catches. A hard life.

In the Netherlands, nearly every port has a statue like this. I assume all around the North sea coast you will find them
