Yeah sick burl but you would benefit looking into tree identification a little bit more as dogwoods will never get that size sick burl tho.

Funny how some small things of your childhood stick with you over time. Where I grew up, on the toilet's wall facing the throne there was that really small protuberance that totally looked like a gorilla's head.
