Hello all, I always wanted to try setting up pi hole for home but it always felt a bit too confusing as I haven't done any coding etc before (unless you count Khan academy javascript lessons). I was going through tutorials again to see what hardware it'd need (e.g. raspberry pi zero w, power adapter, micro sd, micro sd reader.....) till i came upon some reddit posts saying that if your pi hole host goes down, so does your internet. If that happened I don't know if I'd be able to fix the problem, physical or not. Is there a way to disable pi hole in those cases to at least get the internet back up?

Refreshing the page obviously fixed it, but weird behavior nonetheless.

Does anyone have an up to date blocklist for a Samsung TV. The device is ridiculously chatty and all lists I can find from previous posts don’t block any of the adds on it. It’s opening stupid sites like - Cars.com Furniture.com Ladbrokes.com Hipenpal.com The list goes on and on and on

Hey there everyone. Setup pihole a few weeks back on a PC that I have wired to my router. I think I setup everything correctly and all devices were using it but the issue I noticed is some sites stopped loading correctly. Set it up in docker compose file. Examples of isssues:

Amazon wouldn’t load sometimes Reddit comment sections often wouldn’t load Some .Gov sites Some news sites Issues with plex

Any idea why that happens? Something I botched on the setup? Working as intended? Any help appreciated.

Couldn’t care less if companies spend money advertising on Prime Video. Simply mute them (set timer for ad length) and pop over to another window. Their loss and I get to practice my selective ignoring.
