C’mon Sony. I didn’t buy my fourth shitty Dual Sense controller just for you to blue ball me the moment my squad gets online.

Tell me I have like 3 controllers that have stick drift and only had them for months. It makes no sense

1

u/Ultimateshot100 Feb 08 '25

You must either A, do nothing but play games 24/7 or B, abuse your controllers.

I've had my PS5 for 4 years now and haven't had a single problem with my 1 (and only) controller.

2

u/ConfidentDrawer3027 Feb 08 '25

I play it frequently so maybe that's the reason why they drift

1

u/Sasahami Feb 08 '25

Only 3? Just wait.

How bruh Ive had mine since October of last year that's like 4 months now no stick drift just take care of your stuff

1

u/jumpspear Feb 08 '25

Take care of my stuff? My NES, Sega Genesis, SNES, PS, N64, PS2, GameCube, Xbox, Xbox 360, XB1, Wii U, and PS4 all have working controllers.

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '25

Damn I'm still using the same one after 5 years and had minimal problems with it. The second one however...

The PS5 controller is one of the worst i've ever used. But it's to be expected. We have to have them so ofc they make them trash and make you have to constantly shell out $70 for a new one. I'm on number 3. I've taken 4 and 5 controllers apart. They have the exact same stick set up. Same parts. You think they could have made an improvement in all that time. They just didn't want to.

What’s wrong with you people? I’ve been using the same controller since I got my ps5. 1000s of hours. Controller is still perfect.

u/MistCongeniality Feb 08 '25

I JUST got my second this week and I got a PS5 on launch. Batteries finally failed in mine; 10 minute charge time.

Granted, while I used it for 4-8 hours a day in 2020/2021, my usage dropped considerably after that, so it’s entirely possible I got the same number of hours out of it as someone who had to replace earlier.

It’s definitely Sony’s problem. I’ve never had a controller go bad before, and I have consoles dating back to the NES. DualSenses are garbage.

4

u/jumpspear Feb 08 '25

You must’ve gotten one of the three that weren’t made with paper clips and chewing gum.

3

u/mythlabb Feb 08 '25

I never had a single controller failure on my ps4 or any previous consoles that I can remember. I think we’ve bought six dualsense controllers for the two of us. Two ended up with crazy stick drift, one a bad X button, one a bad R2, one with a battery that no longer holds a charge for more than 30m. Problem is that it’s cheaper to replace them than to fix them. Sucks.

u/unsafekibble716 Feb 08 '25

With that luck, go buy a lottery ticket

Ive on 7 or 8 (since launch)

Same, except I bought three incase split screen with wife and one as a backup to swap if battery runs low. All three work just the same as day 1

u/ConsciousShirt6737 Feb 08 '25

Me too. My xbox series x controllers on the other hand there's about 7 of them in there and only 2 work with no issues.

The thing I always notice is that while stick drift can affect random people it seems like it always affects the same people more often so its also gotta have something to do with how they use the controllers

You could also accept that both things are true the sticks are not perfect but they dont often break for most people and that there a certain users who manage to destroy them much more often than the average person

It's also been completely proven that Sony literally doesn't fix the controllers on purpose so we keep buying them but keep up the delusion of it having to be how people treat the controller

1

u/Important_Wear50 Feb 08 '25

I got the chrome one so after tax..about $85 😅

1

u/Regular-Body32 Feb 08 '25

Yeah mine didn't even last a year before I got stick drift and the second one I have doesn't charge properly, the battery (WHILE CHARGING) can go from 0 bars to 2 in a second and then randomly goes back to 1 bar.

1

u/Ultimateshot100 Feb 08 '25

The dualsense controller is literally the most comfortable, quality feeling controller I've ever held. From a design standpoint it's literally perfect. If you treat a $70 controller like it's a stress ball, then it won't last.

u/raptchur Mar 10 '25

And like i said, has the same 10 year old parts inside. Sorry you're easy to fool. Sony makes a living off of that though. Just like Disney.

1

u/raptchur Feb 08 '25

Let's all just call it like it is... People that are PS fanboys don't experience stick drift. That's all there is to it. You all act like those of us that complain about it, want to keep having to buy controllers. That we want to be upset with a console that we spent $500 on... It is just facts. Yes, of course different people are going to have different experiences. But do you all think we are professional rock climbers with extreme grip strength just incredible hulking all over our controllers?? So tired of apologists. The controllers are garbage. Like i said, they have the exact same parts as the damn PS4 controllers from what? 9 years ago? There is NOTHING good about this controller. It is cheaply made trash. Anyone that actually plays and has the ability to criticize something while still being able to partake in it, can see that...

2

u/greenday568 Feb 08 '25

Oh thank good I thought I had a bad controller or something cause I got 2 in my bundle and one started drifting like 6 months ago the other one is ok for now but damn I’m gonna have to get another soon

2

u/ProphetOfMrMeeseeks Feb 08 '25

Everyone here me out about this. So I purposely buy the same color controllers from bestbuy with the 2 year warranty. The warranty is like $8. I only buy it for ONE controller. So whichever of any of my 4 controllers goes out, I just bring in the one not working, swap it out for a new one, and pay the $8 again.

A little loophole for you all (:

1

u/Life_Cap_883 Feb 08 '25

is dual sense that bad ? i thought it's better than dual shock 4

1

u/AgentJones24 Feb 08 '25

I have 5 with left stick drift. And I bought the $250 dualsense pro and after a year the rubber is starting to peel off on the like hand grip part now.

1

u/Different-Damage-385 Feb 08 '25

Bro I have 8 in my drawer right now with stuck drift that’s so bad you can’t even use them. When I hit 10 I’m sending them all in
