The console was great. It felt really premium. Everyone had RRoD, but my PS3s were nothing but trouble, but that opening themeā€¦.its always been my favorite.

For real, I missed the PS3 startup sound heavenly and being able to change the color of the background oh my God it was so peak sure, I can change my PS fiveā€™s theme to be based off of the PS3 with the classic sound effects, but itā€™s just not same. Sony really shouldā€™ve added every start up screen from every PlayStation and not just a PS one.

And why the fuck did they get rid of the start up? Yeah itā€™s cool that the themes are there but the start up should at least be there too.

That made me question their direction the most tbh; they proved that they could add something like custom startups to the PS5. A PS3 themed, PS5 startup (and so on) wouldā€™ve been DOPE

I love the Home Screen but I hate the actual boot up. Black screen with the PS logo.. Same as PS4, and boring as shit.

Once you get up to selecting a profile itā€™s all uphill but before that itā€™s probably the worst since itā€™s a repeat of the previous console.

I think not much attention was paid to it as many players start the console using their controller's PS button which takes you straight to the profile selection page. And the system is so fast this gen that I barely get to see any animation before that as it still takes some time for TV/Monitor to register and switch to PS5's signal.

It's the OG and the one that started it all. Sounda great to with a good audio system.

Makes me wanna play metal gear solid, tony hawk pro skater, Tekken, gran Turismo, jet moto, resident evil, syphon filter... You name it.

Oh and ridge racer and take the car out after it loaded and put in a music cd so you could listen to your own jams

PS5 offcourse, SSD was a huge improvement in loading times and it looks great, first PS5 with disk drive is still my favorite, already replaced with a pro but I kept it! Was my first and hard to get PS5.

PlayStation 1 is going so hard, it has more space in my brain than it needs to. It's by far my favorite.

PS2, though I absolutely love the console and the sound is also stuck my head, I kind of don't like it. I find it extremely loud and obnoxious for some reason

PlayStation 3, I just love. It's simple, it's elegant.

PlayStation 4, though it's my favorite console, I like it but that's kind of it it. Thing is, since it switches to my Eorzea FFXIV theme, I don't really have it in mind.

I used to pick PS1 but honestly every single one triggers some kind of special nostalgia for me. PS1 for my earliest gaming memories, PS2 for my favourite gaming memories, PS3 for the beginning of online and story focused games for me, PS4 background music was on constantly for me when I attended university and will always take me back to that time, and PS5 was the start of financial independence for me where I bought a playstation console on launch day for the first time! Kinda crazy how playstation has been there throughout my entire life. Also got strong memories for xbox and other systems too!

Now we are taking in to account the startup sound for each console? If so the PS1 had the best startup sound. Simple yet satisfying. But it was only when you started a game. Ps2 symphony is a classic though and second for me. Then 3, 5 and lastly 4. My order imo.

PS2 opening sound is almost nirvana, and also haunting as you are praying to the PlayStation gods to actually read the disc if it doesn't do so in the first 2-3 seconds.

Best to worst sounding startup
1, 5, 2, 3, 4

Best to worst looking startup
2, 1, 5, 3, 4

Best to worst overall
1, 2, 5, 3, 4

PS1 start up always gives me chills. It's my favorite sounding one

PS2 cause the start up scene is phenomenal and it's nostalgic. The sound is eh...

PS3 was also my childhood but the start up, midgrade. Sounded nice but everything else felt all too basic compared to the first two.

PS4 just felt lifeless. It's like they tried basing it off the PS3 startup but ended up making it worse. Definitely a downgrade compared to the others.

PS5 felt like it brought back that scenic feel to the startup, and it sounds nice.
