Boycott CBS and Paramount. Cancel them. Corporations must choose to do the right thing or be obliterated

Comedy Central and therefore the Daily Show is owned by Paramount

Sometimes doing the right thing is painful.

Life is nice on the seven seas.

It’s honestly crazy to me that people are paying for cable and streaming services when everything is easily available for free.

Always has been.

Daily show usually posts their episodes as two YouTube videos. Still technically sending ad revenue to Paramount, but YouTube views are literal pennies.

Adblocking browsers...

1

u/RedditJumpedTheShart Jul 19 '25

Remember when Reddit got rid of third party apps that blocked ads?

One more boycott that won't do anything.

u/Secret_Bet_469 Jul 19 '25

There are browsers that keep getting around YouTube ads. Pirates will pirate, over and over again.

4

u/Bea-Billionaire Jul 19 '25

I'm literally using infinity reddit app right now. No ads

3

u/corut Jul 19 '25

No, because I'm still using a 3rd party app with no ads

-2

u/PretentiousMouthfeel Jul 18 '25

...have nothing to do with views on videos.

7

u/Secret_Bet_469 Jul 18 '25

You're still cutting their revenue by blocking their advertisements.

3

u/Dragon_Small_Z Jul 18 '25

Not when I use an ad blocker on YouTube

2

u/ParticularCloud6 Jul 19 '25

If you’re willing to pay you can get ad free you tube. Still way, way cheaper than cable.

not sending ad avenue with ublock origin.

1

u/2ndPickle Jul 19 '25

And when the Daily Show stops being profitable, it gets canceled too

0

u/DistractedPhoenix Jul 18 '25

They stil have an actual cable and streaming channel

u/PretentiousMouthfeel Jul 18 '25

You're missing the point of the person you're replying to.

Also, when is the last time Jon was even on?

u/Square-Confidence650 Jul 18 '25

And as someone who actively watched TDS, if that's what it takes to get companies to stop capitulating so easily then so be it

31

u/apathy_thrills Jul 18 '25

Just steal that shit then.

-2

u/DistractedPhoenix Jul 18 '25

In this context, supporting them means watching their content and message

1

u/apathy_thrills Jul 22 '25

No, supporting them means giving them money.

0

u/DistractedPhoenix Jul 22 '25

Ok…and how do you think they get money?

1

u/apathy_thrills Jul 23 '25

They get money when people pay them to watch the content. When people do not pay to watch the content they do not get money. There are ways to watch the content and not pay money. Comprende?

3

u/Goodgoditsgrowing Jul 19 '25

Pirate that shit. I’m sure Jon would approve us pirating to secure a decent boycott movement.

3

u/Striking-Kiwi-9470 Jul 19 '25

I will (continue to) watch only on YouTube with an ad blocker, which I find an acceptable compromise.

2

u/baldeagle86 Canada Jul 19 '25

It’s free to watch on YouTube

1

u/DistractedPhoenix Jul 19 '25

Fun fact: YouTube pays creators for their content

2

u/monty624 Arizona Jul 19 '25

I am sure the good folks at the Daily Show would understand and likely support the boycott

2

u/ilulillirillion Jul 19 '25

This fucking sucks but imo the message and actual effect we have on corporations when we actually start doing this shit is worth it, and I think Jon would agree imo. Guess I'll pirate it
