The absolute idiocy of them not to do that the first time. Best case they‘d have gotten to use congressional investigative powers to expose actually damaging grift and not just the parts we’ve insanely normalized, but at worst it would have forced R senators to vote against the clear text of the constitution. The accepted jet gift and crypto dinners this time around make an emoluments case much more straightforward, but who are we kidding if we say there wasn’t enough there last time.
