But he’s God’s chosen king! God has a habit of picking people in direct opposition to every single thing he calls good.

Why wouldn’t he pick a serial fraud, multiple adulterer, pedophile, and constant liar?

To teach his followers that their imperfections don't prevent them from being useful servants. Modern christians use the story of king David as their fallback justification for how god would use an imperfect vessel. David broke lots of gods rules, including having a friend murdered so he could sleep with his wife, and not only did this not result in god abandoning him, it actually meant god decided his own son should come to earth one day as one of this king david's descendants. 

David was a very flawed character but his supposed redeeming quality was his heart. He was always full of remorse and felt bad after doing bad things, and he looked to god when he felt bad. Trump does not experience remorse or anything close to it. The only thing he has in common with king david is a proclivity to do bad things, but that's good enough for a lot of them.

I used to be like you. But you have to realize that this argument is not winning hearts and minds, but just insulting the very people we need to reach.

In this scenario, a supposedly moral Christian defends Trump as a valid leader. King David was a flawed man too, he says.

Exhibit A: A well rationalized theological argument as to why Trump can't be compared to David, which may inspire the reader to pick up the Bible and confirm that Trump is indeed in opposition to everything Christianity stands for.

Exhibit B: "Your God is false and I think you're a brainless dork"

Don't reinforce these people's hatred and stereotypes. To beat Trump, we need Christians on our side, not as our enemy.
