Soft Paywall Trump Plans Military “Reaction Force” to Use Against Americans

u/Specialist_Set_1666 12d ago
The ICE agent subreddit seems to mainly be them whining about how they turned out not to qualify for the $50k sign on budget, how they had to pay to fly to another state to get their polygraph, and other issues that were not as advertised. The orange swindler spares no one, but they'll just keep on licking those boots...

lol the current top thread is from a guy that failed the terrorism portion of the polygraph. That tells you everything you need to know about the people that are attracted to this role.
Thanks for sharing the link.
EDIT: just wanted to clarify - I know that polygraphs are not reliable and are mostly an intimidation tactic. I am just not surprised that ICE wannabes might struggle with questions related to plotting against the US government. Especially given j6 and other insurrectionist MAGA adventures

Most countries is an understatement.
Just 2 countries have a larger military budget than ICE itself.
- The United States
- China
That's right, we now spend more on ICE than Russia does on its entire military and they're actively engaged in a multi-year war.
Edit: In fairness, though they don't deserve it whatsoever, the ICE budget is over 5 years. If you break that down equally over that time, ICE is still the 15th highest funded military force in the world, just over Australia and Canada.

I would agree. Dumb and greedy as Trump is, he's been in bed with organized crime and crap like that long enough to know the value of hired muscle, and unlike all his private businesses he's spending the people's money now, not his own, so there should be less incentive to screw people over.

My understanding is that the Oathkeepers were a big part of the J6 insurrectionists.
They told us that they were putting themselves on the line to protect that cattle-rancher out in Nevada (iirc) from being treated unfairly by the federal government. They tell us that this is their way of fulfilling their enlistment oath. And then they turn around and try to coup the government.

Already videos of the Fed milling around listlessly in neighborhoods last night. They don’t know what they are doing, they are not beat cops, and the shit they have trained to do they more likely than not would be reluctant to do it against innocent civilians
180
u/MiklaneTrane New York 12d ago
The problem is that it only takes one jumpy idiot or MAGA sycophant to do something violent towards civilians and escalate. The public responds in defense of their rights. Then the rest of the Feds/National Guard/whoever get more anxious and reactive, and the cycle repeats until the “good cops” have sleepwalked right into becoming brownshirts.
Trump might not be smart enough to even know he’s doing it, but that’s exactly what putting people with authority but no clear objective out on the streets will do.

It is going to be even more ridiculous and lazy than LA. LA actually had some protests going into their occupation, which DC did not. Also, he's "flooding" the streets with a combination of FBI desk agents, who are probably happy not to see Kash Patel and Dan Bongino in the morning right now, combined with the DC national guard, who are made up of DC residents. Unlike the CA national guard, who could be coming from red areas of the state to LA, if the DC national guard reflects the city, it's what, like 90% democrats/democratic leaning? Just don't throw a sandwich at them and nothing will happen.

If the Guard is as enthusiastic as they were in LA, I'm not sure it will have the effect Trump intends
There is a reason Trump's plan uses Nat Guard bases in Alabama and Arizona. The idea is to bring in rural southern MAGA types into blue urban environments so they'll not be sympathetic to the civilians. This is the same tactic China used in Tienanmen Square. To make sure the military would do anything they wanted against young student protesters, they brought in rural local military units from far away and had them be the ones doing the beating & killing.
I am surprised he went with Arizona and not a state with a worse racial record like Louisiana. Then again that risks pulling from New Orleans, while Arizona has been more of a front line of the immigration enforcement.

That doesn't sound like something that builds skills for your civilian career, and I don't think it sounds super-rad for your military career. Everyone else in the National Guard and the reserves are all off training to fight and survive in, like, actual shooting wars and shit.

There is something so far-fetched and so extravagant in the idea of danger to liberty from the militia, that one is at a loss whether to treat it with gravity or with raillery; whether to consider it as a mere trial of skill, like the paradoxes of rhetoricians; as a disingenuous artifice to instil prejudices at any price; or as the serious offspring of political fanaticism. Where in the name of common-sense, are our fears to end if we may not trust our sons, our brothers, our neighbors, our fellow-citizens? What shadow of danger can there be from men who are daily mingling with the rest of their countrymen and who participate with them in the same feelings, sentiments, habits and interests? He won't nullify the constitution in it's entirety. Just the parts he doesn't like. We already got a sneak preview when the Library of Congress had a "coding error" and parts went missing, like due process and the emoluments clause. The coding error was probably that it wasn't supposed to be put online until August of 2026 after he issues a EO removing those parts and Congress does nothing to stop him.
Gotta get those mass protests going so he can declare a national emergency and cancel the elections.

I dont see them nullifying the constitution. They dont need to and I think it is too blatant for them.
The reason that they have so much success to date is because they break the norms, rules and laws without there being adequate enforcement to counter them.
Why do they need to take the formal step of nullifying constitution, which is clearly against the constitution, when they can just continue to ignore it and not galvanise support against them.

I think a lot of people believe we can vote our way out of this by removing his Congressional majority in 2026 and then having a free and fair election for his replacement in 2028. It's obvious they're going to rig things in 2026 through the usual trickery like gerrymandering and last-minute voter roll purges, but will they take it a step further now that they're feeling bold? Will ICE be at blue-leaning voting locations to imply violence against "anyone who votes for communism"? Will any election where a Democrat wins be deemed illegitimate? Will we go full Russia and have a wave of Democratic candidates jailed or shoved out of windows?
I think people will remain complacent if the usual rigging occurs, but the more Trump uses violence and the power of the federal government to stifle political opposition, the greater the chance that people say Fuck It and take to the streets.

This is the literal definition of treason. Raising an army to fight against Americans.

18 U.S.C. § 2381 says, “Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or imprisoned and fined, and incapable of holding any U.S. office.”
Yep. Looks like treason to me.

We are coming to a point where the military brass is going to have to decide if their oath to defend the constitution is just pillow talk or if they’re will protect the country against the domestic enemy ordering them to break the law.

Now does everyone understand why a felon can never be the president?

u/DoctorCybil 12d ago
Don't lump all felons in with the orange antichrist. I've known plenty of felons who did something stupid and are genuinely remorseful. Some of the nicest and most caring people I've met were felons. When our "justice" system will jail mothers stealing food for their children, but let the bankers who caused the 2008 financial collapse go free, we can't just trust that the justice system actually gets things right. I live in Idaho, and possession of over 3 ounces of weed is a felony. Like yeah that's a shit load of weed but it's fucking weed. Felony weed charges shouldn't be lumped in with the Pedophile Of The United States. He's a genuinely evil person.

He must be dying or something, right? Rushing to dictatorship to avoid dying in prison. Trying to imitate Kim Jong and “clean up” D.C. to make it more like North Korea.

20+ year army guy here, 2 tours to the sandbox, now retired from the service. Fuck everything about this and this administration, and anyone who supports it.
I said when he was elected the first time, i would see a civil war here in my lifetime, and every day that looks more and more like a reality.

I am a fairly conservative dude… the descent into dictatorship is accelerating and skipping the autocratic phase.
This is deeply troubling.
Once upon a time, I swore an oath to the Constitution, same as millions of others. What we are seeing is deeply deeply worrisome. And the speed at which it is happening is very scary. We are 7 months into a 4 year (48 months) term. How much more will there be?
When will it become normal for citizens to be disappeared for disloyal statements in pulpits, private and so on? What will we be when we awaken from the stupor? What will the cost to our national soul be?

Russia and Fox News really are fired up right now.
They spent the last 30 years convincing the United States that it's biggest enemy on the planet is it's own people, and they really have succeeded.
We're going to literally mobilize our troops against ourselves.
Imagine how excited Russia is? (As well as China, Iran, etc) They literally got us to hate ourselves and now fight ourselves.

It's amazing how quickly trust in the military is eroding. If they are used to put down protests, they will come to be hated as much as cops. If they accept that the domestic enemies they are sworn to protect us against are citizens resisting fascism, what does it make the military if not the enemy of the people? I haven't entirely lost trust in the military yet. I understand they're in a difficult position and many never thought they'd be asked to do something like this. I truly hate to see it. The absurdity of it all is breathtaking. The military will be enforcing the agenda of a senile, pedophile, fascist, draft-dodging felon who called them "suckers and losers." What a farce.
Edit: a word

u/Dyrogitory 12d ago
At what point does our military support their oath of protecting the citizens from threats whether external or from within? The threat isn’t coming from the citizens, the president is threatening the citizens and we need the military to protect us.

Dear Military members, these are unlawful orders. Now is the time to remember who you are here to protect. Your family, your friends, your neighbors. We do not have a king. Your duty is to the citizens and the constitution. Not to Donald Trump.
Remember this when you shooting your friends and neighbors, this is an illegal act.

Preparing to defend against rebellion. They know something the rest of us don’t. IMO I think we’re closer to civil war than the general public knows. The Trump Administration is insulting itself, creating a fortress thinking their small police force and undereducated/overweight military will protect them. This reeks of fear.

I wonder how far this goes before shit hits the fan. I'm not actually someone who thinks people aren't doing enough. There are so many factors in play that can't be reduced to a simple, "Stop letting this happen." That said, it's going to get worse and worse, and at some point, shit will hit the fan.

It seems like Epstein finally broke whatever sanity he had left.
I've been waiting since the election to see the fascism openly displayed. This is it. Trump is officially taking over.
Democrats MUST win the midterms now and force Trump from office, or there will be Civil War.
