Most countries is an understatement.

Just 2 countries have a larger military budget than ICE itself.

  1. The United States
  2. China

That's right, we now spend more on ICE than Russia does on its entire military and they're actively engaged in a multi-year war.

Edit: In fairness, though they don't deserve it whatsoever, the ICE budget is over 5 years. If you break that down equally over that time, ICE is still the 15th highest funded military force in the world, just over Australia and Canada.

I feel it is important to point out that the ICE number is over 5 years, where military budgets are usually talked about as annual budgets.

Fuck ICE though, they shouldn't even have that much money.

I'm not convinced Russia is actually paying half of its soldiers so maybe that's not the best comparison.

ICE is going to be the military once they decide which countries Putin can have.

While this is an egregious budget for a domestic law enforcement agency, there is no way that is not just a giant grift fund. ICE doesn't have a fraction of the staff of the Russian military, nor nuclear submarines to keep maintained. So all that money is going to "contractors"

To be fair Russia doesn't spend cash on anything, because all the wealthy gets stolen by the oligarchs.

That's not really true if their budget is 28 billion. It's comparable to canda. But there are a few more countries than 2 that have a bigger budget.
