Wait till libertarians who vote straight ticket GOP every 2 years hear about this!

u/Honky_Stonk_Man 14d ago

Lol. So true. I thought libertarians were for individual liberty and would naturally side with democrats on a lot of social issues. Boy was I surprised to see how much they like shiny boots too!

u/vengeanceintobeing 14d ago

I kid you not the only issues that a majority of self described libertarians care about are gun rights and lowering the age of consent

u/RelevantMetaUsername 14d ago

And living on piles of sand in the ocean

2

u/FrancisWolfgang 13d ago

And lower income taxes at any cost

-1

u/LordTuranian 14d ago

Nah, they don't care about the 2nd amendment too.

2

u/P1xelHunter78 Ohio 14d ago

They care about the second amendment for themselves, and just so as long as they can use their weapons in a hypothetical situation to enforce their will on other people. I will admit, not every 2A advocate is like this, but a very large proportion of them are.

They’re mostly just Republicans who want to avoid being called Republicans

u/Uncasredux 14d ago

Libertarians are Republicans who don't go to church

17

u/tacocat_racecarlevel 14d ago

I always heard Libertarians were Republicans that like to smoke weed.

21

u/LilWoadie 14d ago

I have personally always heard libertarians are republicans who don’t believe in the age of consent.

But it was the republicans all along. They’re all just gross.

u/Chimie45 Ohio 14d ago

This is Libertarianism

How do you feel about AOC

u/Rickbox 13d ago

I am a libertarian and I voted Democrat this election cycle. But why doesn't this thread continue to go on about how everyone who doesn't think the same way as them are Republicans.

6

u/joeyasaurus 14d ago

Throw Independents in there too.

6

u/InitialDot2138 14d ago

I noticed this too. It’s crazy how many of them start off with “I’m an independent and don’t have a dog in either party’s fight, but____” and then go on to parrot Republican talking points verbatim.

u/Mindless_Rooster5225 14d ago

And one of the worst I'm a fiscal conservative, but socially liberal, so I have to vote Republican even though Democrats are better fiscally with the economy.

2

u/theCaitiff Pennsylvania 13d ago

Hey, whoah.

I'm an "independent" because the party I should belong to is illegal to organize in the first place.

They're "independent" because they don't want to admit being republican.

We are not the same.

Boy was I surprised to see how much they like shiny boots too!

Tread on me daddy.

62

u/Culltheskulls 14d ago

Dont forget they also want to diddle children. Anyone voting for the GOP does.

u/TXblindman 14d ago

Libertarians, much like cats, are convinced of their fierce independence while completely reliant on a system that they neither understand or appreciate.

4

u/tad-26 14d ago

That's a poignant and clever take on it. Especially in modern times where alot of house cats are 100% indoor cats, spayed and neutered often declawed even. They still think they are fiercely independent. I got one up on the cat tree right now giving me side eye wondering why I haven't dispensed a greenie treat for her.

1

u/TXblindman 14d ago

Very "I am the king, why are you not bowing" energy.

6

u/valtial 14d ago

You can’t convince me libertarians aren’t just self-hating republicans.

4

u/Whitezombie65 14d ago

I'm registered libertarian from back in the days when they were the only party that was pro gay marriage and legal weed. I've voted Democrat the last 4 elections, so we do exist, although I recognize that many libertarians are just republicans who think they're cool or something

3

u/FourManGrill 14d ago

Actually when I was a libertarian I voted for Democrats. But I’m definitely not the norm. Nor am I a libertarian any longer

1

u/Honky_Stonk_Man 13d ago

I am still registered as one but when they started supporting the conman en masse I realized that maybe only a handful of us actually believed in the platform. When the party removed their stance on abortion I was floored. It doesn’t get any more personal liberty than bodily autonomy. I realized then it was mostly a boys’ club.

2

u/superthotty America 14d ago

Nothing like joining the party of perpetual third place

54

u/mlc885 I voted 14d ago

They are very concerned about their rights and very unconcerned about your rights

4

u/P1xelHunter78 Ohio 14d ago

That’s probably the most succinct description I’ve heard. The only thing I’d add is a mention about their government services. If their street doesn’t get paved you’d never hear the end of it.

39

u/FractalHarvest 14d ago

They don’t actually care. They’re posers and hypocrites who simply claim to be libertarian. And that’s almost every one I’ve ever met.

5

u/biznesslizard 14d ago

They won't care. They'll be happy you thought of them. I'm from Florida. The only thing that makes them cum anymore is if you're upset.

They sold out their families, friends, children, safety, health, and freedom just to own the libs. They're gonna get their nut one way of the other.

6

u/Sedu 14d ago

90% of modern day "libertarians" are authoritarians who just want to be the ones in charge and call it freedom.

4

u/322throwaway1 14d ago

The most nutless individuals on the planet.

7

u/some_guy_on_drugs 14d ago

Indoor cats completely dependant on the system they rebel against.

4

u/Lyoss 14d ago

Reminder that right libertarian is an oxymoron

Right politics are all about social hierarchy, dating back to going to bat for the monarchy, anyone who calls themselves a right libertarian is just a conservative that thinks they shouldn't be beholden to the law, just the "others"

2

u/_DapperDanMan- 14d ago

Wait until they find out what happened to Roe!

2

u/AmbidextrousBonobo 14d ago

Libertarians are just boot lickers nowadays

2

u/droptheectopicbeat 14d ago

They won't give a shit. Libertarians are just less literate Republicans.

2

u/theghostmachine 14d ago

Why? They have no principles. They won't do anything.

1

u/Kevin_Jim 14d ago

They won’t even flinch. This is what they wanted.

1

u/underpants-gnome Ohio 14d ago

US libertarians are a mixed bag of crazy. Some are just weed-loving republicans. Those guys will be pissed off. But some only care about pure anarcho-capitalism in the marketplace. They will only care if they have a weed-related business in their investment portfolio.

Others will be just fine living under any degree of trumpy authoritarianism as long as racism and/or fucking their underaged cousins is declared publicly acceptable. That is the individual liberty they have been voting for.
