WW2 began with a negotiation where the large Western powers asked an Eastern European nation to cede much of its territory and most of its defensive infrastructure to its aggressive fascist neighbor.

6 months later Germany took the rest of now defenseless Czechoslovakia. 6 months after that WW2 officially began with the invasion of Poland, where German troops rode in captured Czech tanks.

Yeah. What Trump and Vance and Republicans are proposing is what European powers did with Germany early on during it's aggression. If you stop taking more territory we will let you keep what you have and we can all go back to being friends. Germany said okay, then used the time and lack of pressure to push further and harder and we end up in full scale WW2.

Thing is this ALREADY happened with Russian Ukraine when it comes to Crimea. Then years later Russia attack Ukraine again and we are now in the situation we are. If Russia is allowed to keep parts of Ukraine again, it's guaranteed they will come back in the future and try to take the rest of Ukraine. Except this time, they will know it won't just be a walk in the park and might actually come prepared and finish the job.

Then after it gets Ukraine, it will move on to another former USSR territory and do the same thing.
