Soft Paywall Trump, 79, Melts Down at Being Challenged to a Walk by Dem, 46

That’s my governor.
I think if Frump declines the invitation, Gov. Moore should have a community walk for the cameras. I’ll go.

u/Inevitable-Ad9760 14h ago
It would be fun if a bunch of well-known Democrats did a community walk, which will also show they aren't afraid of their fellow Americans and visitors like the white nationalists
1.4k
u/Orwells_Roses 13h ago
It should become a national thing.
Walk for democracy. Walk away from fascism. Democratic candidates could demonstrate all sorts of good qualities and grassroots appeal by just going for walks with their constituents.
Maga candidates would get booed out of town and would be afraid to show up, even if they were in the physical condition to walk a mile, unlike Dear Leader.

Super yes to this. Live stream Reps and Senators walking their districts flanked by actual residents. Put down on wax how fake these tales of "burning crime-ridden cities" are, especially when those pointing their fingers presided over far worse crime rates in their own states and districts.

u/No_Signature5065 13h ago
I think it’d be good for a lot of people to see this, honestly. I live in one of the “burning, crime ridden cities” and I’m currently sitting outside watching my kids play in the yard and waving to my neighbors who are all out for walks since the heat wave just broke. So scary. Such crime.

There's a local reporter here in Pittsburgh who repeatedly posts about how crime ridden and scary downtown is. His white suburban followers believe this shit and echo it regularly.
So I regularly post pictures and videos of myself wandering around downtown and tag the little fearmongering gremlin because there's literally no reason to be afraid. Dude cries about how bad it's getting and how nobody goes to the city anymore but then posts about every single homeless person or drug overdose like the place is a warzone. Gee I wonder why no suburbanites come into town to spend money anymore...
Bunch of clowns scared of their own shadows. I've walked through some of the worst areas of different cities in the northeast/Mid-Atlantic regions and never once felt afraid, because if you're not an asshole to people you're unlikely to have and problems. It's pretty goddamn simple.

None of the people shit-talking these cities have the slightest interest in what it's actually like there. They only care about scaring rural and suburban people, who also don't actually care about what it's actually like there but just want their biases reinforced.

Used to work in hospice as a death doula. My very first client was this old hippie dude with no friends or family, dying from multiple cancers, he was bedbound in his care-integrated apartment for two years, almost died of an infection after which he was admitted to the hospital PCU. Hospitals in Canada being publicly funded and stretched very thin typically reserve palliative beds for patients they are absolutely sure are in their last 2-3 months of life, tops. Just looking at the state he was in (think Darth Vader at the end of Episode IV) I thought for sure he was in his last days, let alone weeks or months... I don't know if it was remnants of psychedelic magic from the 60s or what but bro held on for TWO MORE YEARS. The hospital kicked him out of the PCU after 6 months, we had to fight the city to get him back into an assisted living unit, because normally there's a 10 year waitlist. Some people somehow just defy the law of entropy itself.

It’s crazy to think back to how Trump wanted to not only pass off Covid as a hoax but he didn’t want journalists to act like people were worried about it. thank you for properly honoring his dignity and not referring to him by the mocking nickname people saddled him with due to his vocal tic.
I hate how everyone paints him as the bad guy when in reality, he was just living on his own, catching fish and defending himself against orcs year after year, till some bastard burglar came into his house and stole the one possession he had and truly loved, taunted him with a BULLSHIT riddle (how in the world is "what do I have in my pocket" a brainteaser someone could figure out?) during a game Smeagol agreed to play along with, and then took off with it to keep for his own amusement for decades before his young cousin set out to destroy it.
The ring was apparently perfectly safe in Smeagol's hands. Sauron didn't have a clue where it was until Bilbo started horrifying his party guests with it. Smeagol wasn't going anywhere, had no real lust for power, just used it to catch his fish and live his quiet life alone. Yes, he made one awful mistake in the heat of passion under the pull of a mystical and powerful ring when he was young, but he paid for it dearly over the ensuing centuries of shame and isolation and he never bothered anyone again.
That whole damn super long story is nothing more than the tragic tale of a misunderstood dude who never got justice for a savage robbery committed agaisnt him. He poignantly reunites with it finally, after chasing it to the ends of the earth and even helping his tormentors escape certain death and allowing them to humiliate him even more, but only gets to enjoy it seconds before his tragic death. Hobbit/LoTR is one of the saddest stories alive ever read.

I think it's more likely how his father insulted his mother. Trump has all the characteristics of an unloved son who is trying to win the respect of a dead parent. It has twisted him into a person who can't distinguish good attention from bad, who thinks armoring himself in gwady trappings will gain himself status, and being cruel will make him look powerful.

100% yes but even if he was younger the electorate still failed by electing him.
January 6th should have been the absolute final straw on top of a haystack from his last administration but too many voters failed that basic test.
No amount of new rules can make up for the basic fact that far too many Americans are supportive of his actions and policies.

He cheated and won the every swing state AND Kamala didn’t flip one county. Not even Reagan was able to accomplish that. He lost the popular vote twice, but got it now? While he was facing multiple investigations that could put him away for life and hinder his money making? While he had one of the richest men in the world and tech helping him? He cheated and no amount of voting would have changed it. All voting data so far shows irregular numbers in multiple states.

I forget the name of this interesting podcast I heard recently. They discussed why some US politicians stick around so long. It's the free healthcare. It's superior. Surveying those in seats, many are older men. When they researched how often politicians completed their work, made it to vote, etc there were discrepancies. The older they are, once they are met with any type of pain, they take a leave. For many months. Smh. We the public are not given any of the same entitlements. I wouldn't normally use that last word but for them, they are entitled. They aren't dealing with the issues of everyday Americans. Ie not getting the care or coverage needed for a life saving circumstance.

His followers are as lonely and isolated from being accepted by their community as he is. They can only feel connected by the illusion of having power and control over others; they are sad, washed-up predators. Most of them either came from households where they were treated like inferior beings or have always felt inferior to others since childhood. They are people who live with daily self-loathing and inferiority complexes. They are like sad, minimum-wage security guards compared to cops. No one likes them; no one will listen to them. They are suffering from a loneliness epidemic, and they’ve decided that if they can’t have acceptance and happiness in their own lives, they’re going to take it from others. They are reckless, selfish and cruel people who are trying hard to be the worse version of themselves they can become.
It’s like if you can’t join the cool kids club then beat them up, huh just like a real cop!

It reminds me of this Chinese superstition where if you walk in front of the bride at her wedding and steal her moment, you would snatch her happiness and have it to your own benefit, with blatant disregard of her own about being married to the man she loves.
And by snatch, I do not mean it's playful, and they want to share some with the bride, no, they want to suck it all for their own benefit and this is why there's people in this video looking around for it to even physically restrain them.
Because your own life is miserable enough to resort to steal the joy of life from other people so you can consume it.

“But if Wes Moore needs help, like Gavin Newscum did in L.A., I will send in the ‘troops,’ which is being done in nearby DC, and quickly clean up the Crime,” the president continued.
Trump was so angry about the public safety walk invitation that he suggested he may pull federal support for rebuilding the city’s Francis Scott Key Bridge, which collapsed last year.
this is probably the most glaring example of how he plans to abuse his use of the military. first, he'll threaten to cut off funding like he normally does. if that doesn't work, he's saying if you do anything that he disagrees with or talk shit about him, he will just label your city or neighborhood 'crime ridden' and then use that as a pretense to send in the goon squads. our military men and women are going to have to make a decision pretty soon about which side of history they want to be on.

This has long reeked of 1930's Germany, but threatening cities with the Strumtroopen is so on the God damn nose that it almost feels like parody.

It's sad that some people like how he operates. Genuinely sad.
A totally normal offer to just literally go for a walk and talk about an issue is met with fury and anger, simply because that person has a D next to their name.
Republicans have decided that their real enemy on this planet is literally America, or at least half of it. Nothing makes republicans angrier than Americans who suggest that we work together to make the country better.

This was 2017 (edit:meaning the article below). I am sure that sack of burger grease hasn't improved his stamina in 8 years.

Trump in a new version of the three little pigs. He will huff . He will puff . Then he will just fall down. But fortunately for trump he landed on the Epstein files and broke his fall

I can't wait til he dies of natural causes.
He's one of the most evil despicable humans to ever exist.
He brings nothing good to the world and only harms it. Fuck trump.
Child rapist. Adult rapist. Felon. Conman.
And those are just the thing we KNOW are true.
Imagine what this fucking piece of shit has done that we DON'T know about.

Side note- does Daily Beast ever NOT title an article "Trump Melts Down...."? Seems kind of Mad Libs, at this point.

“Nasty and provocative tone”
Moore just invited him to take a walk and talk about the mechanisms Maryland has used to lower crime rates. Where’s the nastiness or provocation in that? He didn’t even ask him how many kids he r__ed.

Stay focused people! All of this sick dying stuff is exactly the distraction he was looking for! This might be as real as the gun shot “wound”. Release the EPSTEIN Files!

Some people say he's a great walker. They come up to him with tears in their eyes and say: "Sir, you are the greatest walker I have ever seen." And he responds with "Well I know a lot about walking, maybe more than anyone else in the world I know a lot, never walk uphill me boys, never walk uphill I gotta tell you."

MAGA believes this whiny, old, unhealthy weakling is an "alpha male" and they worship him.

Keep it up DEMs. Troll him nonstop. Plus Americans don’t care about issues anymore. They like reality TV show-style drama.

He's under audit, he can't right now. But rest assured, he would if he could. When the audit is completed, then he'll walk.

u/lontrinium 12h ago
People go so easy on trump, can you imagine the list of things this man not only cannot do but has never done?
You think this guy has ever done laundry? Cooked a meal? Taken his kids to the doctor?
Just an absolute wash out of a man/husband and father.

I don’t think I have ever legit seen Trump even walk normally. All I’ve seen him do is that sorta bored shuffle that old people do. Then he stands there doing the Smooth Criminal lean, like he’s the front half of a centaur.

u/Crowbar_Faith 8h ago
He tries to have it both ways with these “cities of crime”. Under his presidency, he loves to say crime is way down. Then in the next sentence, crime is supposedly so bad that he needs to put the military in the streets. Fucking idiot.

"Hey, you want to join me for a round of golf? I heard your scores are crazy low, and I can use some pointers!"
"How dare you insult me! I am reporting you to ICE!"
This is how this conversation looks to me.

A man entering his 9th decade on the planet, currently on entresto, spironolactone, carvedilol for HFpEF as well as apixiban for paroxysmal afib does not exactly inspire confidence.

It will be a major sign that his health is slipping away if his mobility becomes compromised. Thus far, he still seems able to toddle around but if/when it gets to the point that he is primarily seated, golfing less, and generally not standing, then he'll be nearing the end of the runway

They need to find other expressions than melts down to describe his tantrums. He toddler-wails. He ketchups the walls. He rage-poops. He dribbles with anger.

I will say the only time I ever would want to be in Donald Trump’s company is if we were both being chased by a grizzly bear.

Translating from Trumpistanese, “nasty and provocative” means “I don’t like it, and I’m embarrassed I don’t have a legitimate reason to turn it down”

Remember when Biden was being made fun of for falling on his bike when he couldn't get his bike shoes unclipped? Like, I doubt Trump can even ride a bike, let alone the kind of bike that requires special shoes that clip into the pedals.
