Why?

I think they might be so deep in Fox La-La-Land that they just didn't believe the allegations had any weight. That's the only explanation I can think of that begins to explain how so many people voted for Moore.

Regardless of why, something is incredibly broken here.

You’re not wrong- I’m on mobile and don’t have time to chase down a link, but I recall seeing polling that indicated a huge percentage of republicans thought the accusations were completely false.

Ah, I hadn’t read that one- the one I saw was a few days ago. That 60% is pretty depressing.

It wasn't a factor because they didn't believe the allegations, so it's kind of the same number, really.

Somehow more disturbingly, 60% said they weren't a factor in their decision.

How is that more disturbing? If you think it is false, then logically it wouldn't factor into your decision, so I would expect it to be closer to 82%.

I could try to understand those people who were brainwashed by Fox News and they didn’t believe in the accusations.....but not even considering it as a factor to vote for your senator? That’s just wow.

New low every day.

tbf if they think it's false, of course it isn't going to factor into their voting decision, because they think it's bullshit.

If you didn't think the allegations were true, why would you consider it?

I didn't think the Obama birther bullshit was true, so I didn't consider it when I voted for him.

If you think they are false, why would the factor into the decision of your vote?

You may have seen a different poll, but exit polls have that down as 35%.

Things like this help you to understand why women keep silent in small towns in the south when they're raped/assaulted/etc... If multiple national, large, and credible news organizations can't get these people to see the truth, what chance do these women have when the ones that abuse them are in positions of power in that town?

They said they thought they were false, in a poll.

But studies have indicated Republicans don't answer such polls with what they think, but rather with what they think sounds better.

As such, polls about what Republicans think or believe are pretty much worthless - they don't report honestly.

But studies have indicated

oooh, id like to see those studies

I wish I had saved them, I really did. >:| I'm definitely kicking myself for not doing so now, because it keeps coming up and I totally can't back it up with sources and it's driving me nuts.

If you are better at googling than me and can find them let me know.

"This is how I can justify publicly the way I was going to vote anyway so I can save face"

Surely Trump is more destructive.

While I do agree with that, Moore should have been considered an unelectable candidate even if those accusations hadn't come out.

He got thrown out of office for:

  • Protecting a statue of the ten commandments at a government building
  • Refusing to uphold the same-sex marriage ruling

How does that make him unelectable in Alabama?

My 90 yr old grandma has fox news on non stop. She told my mother "I don't know nothing about that, but it sounds like they have an agenda. Planned parenthood sold aborted babies, we need to stop abortion."

Literally the only thing she cares about at this point in her life.
