So, at the end of the day, Dems are viewed just a bit more favorably than a child molester? This might be a problem.

A gargantuan caveat if I ever heard one

I mean if we are gonna look at this realistically, white people in Alabama still overwhelmingly preferred the child molester to the democrat.

You make a good point.

Old white people, let's be clear. There are a lot of us here who are progressives and we just scored a huge victory. Look for more upsets. If we can do it in Alabama, y'all can do it anywhere! Take America back!

Virtually 70% of white people in Alabama voted for Moore though. So it wasn't just old white people.

I understand the sentiment, but Doug Jones winning by 1.5 points represents about a 30 point swing in the Alabama electorate. It's not a huge win, but it's huge given the baseline.

And importantly, not all of that was just because Moore is a racist, misogynist, idiotic, predatory scumbag.

Some of that is the national swell of support for the Democratic Party after the Republicans have had a year to screw things up, and that's going to tip a lot of races next year. The bookies all have the Democrats winning big in the House.

Abortion is a issue for many in AL.
