Republicans may be forced to advance a more bipartisan agenda

Oh, poor things. Being forced to negotiate and compromise.

They'll just obstruct then claim it's Democrats getting in the way.

Worked for over 7 years with Obama! :(

Or how Trump can insult democrat leaders a day before a meeting showing he's not negotiating in good faith, but then claim the democrats are grandstanding and getting in the way of compromise when they cancel that meeting.

Or with a Democratic governor, they can decide to advance no agenda and just obstruct. See Obama, Barack

I hope you're wrong but I know you're right. Hopefully, we get that new election in the other district to get an outright majority.

They'll burn the state to the ground and say that the dems did it.

Being forced to negotiate and compromise.

Sounds like communism to Republicans...

Sounds the job description of a legislator.

I agree, and certainly on the state level there are republicans and democrats who happily set aside thier differences to actually compromise and legislate.

Unforunately since republicans gained control of the house in 2010 (and later the senate) they've treated compromise with democrats as if it is a mortal sin, effectively killing an Obama-Boehner "grand bargain" on the budget, amongst other issues. and now they are having trouble passing legislation in the senate, all because they refuse to make legislation that would be palletable for democrats to jump ship and vote on. (now it seems likely that with the trump adminitration, democrats will continue to adopt the republicans no compromise strategy). All of this lack of compromise (from both parties, but mainly republicans) in the federal legislature is more confusing considering they don't have super majorities to pass what ever they want, like democrats from 2008-2010.

overall, this partisanship is detrimental to the country, and i hope we can return to civility one day...

I see the speaker and all that is redecided.

It is very interesting.

Va. Going blue is news too.

It’s fun pretending that only republicans would be against a bipartisan agenda.

BS. Republicans are waaaay worse at obstruction than Dems. I mean, it's not even close.

I didn’t say anything about obstruction. I said bipartisan agenda

You have a point but it's mostly because the GOP has been taken over by crazies, they don't have any good ideas anymore.

Replace the GOP with politics and we are in complete agreement.
