Accidental psych reference

Don’t really follow football at all so no idea why this came up on my instagram feed this morning but immediately thought of Psych and Gus’ secret! No one in the comment section of that post seemed to catch it 🤣

The Psych joke was a parody of a Seinfeld joke which was a parody of the movie JFK about the magic bullet theory and whether or not there was a second shooter. The Warren Sharp tweet was probably a Seinfeld reference

I genuinely had no idea about the Seinfeld parody! Moved to the US in 2008 so grew up with Psych but missed Seinfeld.

Ouch. It was the 90s. 

I didn’t watch Seinfeld so I didn’t pick up on that. But it was more than the JFK movie that thought there was a second shooter on the grassy knoll. It was a common conspiracy theory. That’s what I thought psych was referring to originally.

And Down the Stretch Comes Murder! Their childhood bully asks them for help figuring out why his horse kept losing - the B plot is Shawn feeling guilty for getting the bully kicked out of school for shooting a spitball at the teacher, but eventually realizes he turned in the wrong kid (there was a second spitter!)

Pretty sure its a joke about hitting the second tower. And the first spitter was Luis Suarez (notorious biter) spitting at the seattle staff during an MLS game

It's not a reference to 9/11, it's a reference to JFK's assassination - "there was a second shooter". That's what the Psych episode was referencing.
