One of the things that bug me most at Psytrance festivals is when the timetable planners seem to have booked the artists with the fastest and most aggressive beats for the morning hours. Which unfortunately seems to be nearly always nowadays.

As a somewhat older citizen, I remember a time when it was common to transition to more mellow and happy sets with a gentler beat around sunrise. This makes for a very uplifting experience for those still on the dance floor, and for the vast majority of people who are already sleeping, it makes it much more likely to sleep long - as sunrise is usually a time when you might wake up a first time, but most likely would like to sleep more.

I'm sitting upright in my tent now on Monday morning 7am and fantasizing about going to the festival area to pull the goddamn plug on their whole system, so I could maybe sleep a few more hours which otherwise unfortunately seems impossible.

Does anyone know which festivals still do morning sets the old, gentler, way, or even take a break in playing sets from sunrise to noon? I think those would be the only ones I would consider going to in the future...

I was at Indian Spirit this year and wanted to ask you for your opinion. My opinion:

• As someone who really enjoys prog, I have to say I thought this year's lineup was really great! - The decor and food selection were amazing (even a good selection for vegan food).

• The showers and restrooms were absolutely clean, as always!

• Unfortunately, the sound system on the main stage was quite quiet this year and didn't have enough power compared to last year. Especially the higher frequencies were almost inaudible, which was really sad!

• The crowd was also a bit strange at times this year. I saw some people insulting each other and a lot of people who were visibly just there to film for Instagram. To each their own, but we found it a bit strange...

• The Moonstage had a better sound system than last year, and the Mushroom was unfortunately just as quiet as last year. We were able to talk to each other in normal voice and understand each other! Even though it sometimes seems and feels quite commercial compared to other prog/psy festivals, I had a great time with my group.

Do any of you know of any similar festivals based on the lineup (preferably with prog?)

It was amazing! Seeing all the people dance together again and dancing on the music was so much fun

I live in the area where Free Earth Festival takes place, and I’ve also been going every year because I genuinely love psytrance culture and the people it brings together. Since I see both sides — as a local and as a regular attendee — I want to share an honest review with both positives and negatives.

The positives:

The food options are really good, and the pizza in particular is amazing.

The lineup always includes some incredible names, with sets that really make the festival unforgettable.

The decoration and atmosphere are beautiful, especially at night — it really feels magical.

The negatives:

Security is a huge problem. This year they literally attacked us out of nowhere, just for something as stupid as “what are you looking at.” They act hostile and intimidating, and instead of keeping people safe, they create fear. On top of that, they sneak in their own friends to push bad substances. I’ve even heard stories of people getting beaten up by them — I can’t confirm it myself, but after what I’ve seen, it wouldn’t surprise me.

The organization clearly cares only about money. Toilets? Most were out of order. They brought chemical ones that were never cleaned, and using them honestly felt like a nightmare.

As a local, I have to be honest: people here don’t welcome the festival. They complain about it constantly and only act friendly on the surface.

This year I went to Insomnia once again, and once again it was a brutal, insane, transcendental experience. I went alone again, and as almost always happens, I ended up meeting loads of people, reconnecting with old friends and even neighbors. Surprisingly, through Reddit I was contacted by a user who was also going to be there. On the second night I sent him a snap and we met up — it turned into a night of pure madness that’s better left undescribed, but the trip pushed me to off limits like I had never experienced before, really deep. The lineup was perfect and the party atmosphere was absolutely electric.

After three days I left completely wrecked, totally exhausted lol — I danced my ass off.
I really love these kinds of festivals that are mid-sized — not too many people, not too few. There’s always that feeling that everyone is family. Next year I’ll definitely be back again.

Small note: This year, for some reason, the decoration wasn’t as perfect as the previous one, and I actually thought it was a bit too simple compared to what they usually put together. Other than that, it was another epic party — I almost needed to be carried out on a stretcher :D In the end, I caught a ride with some friends in a caravan.

Were you there? What was your impression of the festival?

How is no one mentioning that when Sajanka started on Friday the whole soundsystem went almost mute? I could call my friends from the floor with my phone and even later that night when I walked between the stages I could hear the grass moving while I walked past it. Maybe it was due to the fog but both the moon and the sun stage felt so downregulated, like I would live Kilometers away from the Festival. The day after during Phaxe the soundsystem was almost too loud. How come that it was so different?

I'm headed to a 2 day festival this weekend and just about to put in my order. I have a tab of acid and hash but am choosing between 2cb, md and shrooms for the weekend. I'd be fairly experienced with them all seperately but less so in their combination. I'm interested in the cross tolerance mostly and what order should things be done. Definitely doing the acid on the second night so what should be done in combination, on the first night and will I increase my tolerance terribly by doing shrooms during the day?

For those who were in the 2025 edition of Free Earth Festival, what did you like and dislike?

The festival takes place next to a stunning bright-blue water lake, which for me is really what made this location so special. Waking up and going for a swim was the perfect way of starting my days.

The main stage was on top of a hill from which you could see the whole festival, including the lake and the mountains around it. The canopy was stunning, it looked like a 'mini Boom', the sound system was clear and powerful. My personal favourite sets were Lunatica, Freedom Fighters, Altruism/Thatha(the closing set was just wow!), and Regan.

The food was nice, I would have liked a couple more meaty options, but not a major issue. I also liked the seating area by the food stalls, even the canopy there had a beautiful design.

The crowd was also great, I met some amazing people and shared some great moments both on the dancefloor and around the festival.

We were also lucky with the weather, it was hot but manageable, there was a constant wind, which helped.

The one thing I didn't like was the amount of chairs on the dancefloor, I wish those weren't allowed.

All in all, I had a great time and I will definitely be back next year!

Great crowd, chill security, a smaller fest.

Music: 80-90% Psycore, the rest Hi-tech/Darkpsy. Cool stage design and lighting. One stage only but it's fine.

Immaculate toilets, seemed to be cleaned every day and people seem to know how to use them without wrecking them. Decent showerss, cold but good, could use more of them.

Food: could use more diversity, never want to eat a pizza again (they were great though) chai was expensive (4+ euros). An easy improvement: let more food vendors in.

Site: crystal clear night skies in Mount Olympus, beautiful views of the hills, very remote, no imperial entanglements. Camping maybe a bit far from the main site, next year idytry and be closer to the music.

Biggest gripe: the coffee was amazing but they stopped selling coffee randomly at around 6-8pm each night. This sucked because I need coffee throughout the night when partying and it gets cold asf at night. Seemed pointless, don't you want our money!?

Great crowd, maybe a bit older than usual (avg age late twenties), great festival, well organised.
